Gothic music is a modern take on classical music and opera and has been described as "dark sensualism". Gothic music is not inspired by rock 'n' roll or metal and, for this reason, cannot be called "Gothic Rock".

Examples of Gothic bands are:

Faith & the Muse
Le' rue Delashay
Mephisto Walz
Midnight Syndicate
Miranda Sex Garden
Mors Syphilitica
Nox Arcana
