Battlefield 1942 is an expansive FPS (first-person-shooter) by EA Games. It combines realistic graphics with exceptional gameplay to create a game above all others. Battlefield 1942 has the most realistic physics engine available in FPS.

There have been over a dozen Mods (modifications) realeased by independant gamers. Each Mod changes the gameplay by adding new weapons, vehicles, rules, and possibly modifying the engine itself. Battlefield 1942 also supports massive multiplayer internet gameplay. On average, there are 6000 or more servers running Battlefield 1942, with up to 64 players competing in explosive combat on each.

The creators of Battlefield 1942 have released an expansion pack entitled "Battlefield 1942 Road to Rome". There are also other expansion packs on the way as of late 2003. One of them is "Battlefeild 1942: Secret Weapons of WWII."
