Limbeck is an indie rock band hailing from Orange County, California.

Limbeck's latest album, Limbeck, was released April 10th, 2007.

Genre and style

While classified as indie rock due to their relatively small niche in Southern California, the band's musical style is most often described as "alternative country music". Their original sound was more emo as heard in their early releases, including This Chapter is Called Titles. They moved towards a more alt.country sound after that record, attributing the early emo stuff to the influences they had in high school. They have all but abandoned these early songs, rarely playing this material live, if ever.

Geography appears to play a primary role in the band's recordings, both in musical arrangement as well as in lyrical content.

Many songs actually name interstate highways which are known primarily to Orange County and San Diego County residents, such as the 8, 22, and 15. Musical intellectuals argue that this could both hinder a band's marketability to other regions of the United States for obvious reasons, but others point to the international success of media powerhouses such as The O.C. and pop-punkers Something Corporate, which capitalize on the current American fascination with the Orange County lifestyle.

  • Their song "Honk + Wave" was featured on +44 bassist and vocalist, Mark Hoppus' podcast, Hi My Name Is Mark.
  • Limbeck received national exposure (in the United States) as a finalist in December 2005 Yahoo.com's Who's Next.
  • Long-time drummer Matt Stephens left the band in September of 2005 and was replaced by Jon Phillip, the former drummer of The Obsoletes and The Benjamins.
  • Jon Phillip has been replaced by Wisconsin taxpayers for failure to pay support and medical bills for a son he fathered and abandoned in Wisconsin. The band Limbeck may also be held in contempt of court for not disclosing band assets to Wisconsin Child Support Enforcement. THis may be why they have skipped WI in their new tour with the Format.
  • The band has received local radio play as well as exposure on XM Satellite Radio's channel 43.
  • Their song "Stop Internet Romance" from This Chapter Is Called Titles was used in one of the first iMac commercials. The band used the royalties for that ad to buy the van they tour in to this day. In the commercial they were called Garage Monkeys. They never actually went by this name, though. It was created specifically for the commercial.
  • The band recorded percussion tracks in 2006 at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, Kansas.
  • Hi, Everything's Great and Hey, Everything's Fine both appear as lines in the Motion City Soundtrack song Everything Is Alright.
