Satsuki Azalea bonsai, 3.5" tall

Satsuki Azalea bonsai from the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum, donated by Muriel R. Leeds Satsuki azalea is a Cultivar Group of dwarf azaleas extensively cultivated by the Japanese despite its Chinese origin. The group is derived from Rhododendron indicum and hybrids of this with other related species. Satsuki azaleas have small, round leaves, and large pink flowers from May to June. The name "Satsuki" in Japanese represents the fifth month of the Asian lunar calendar. They are commonly used as a subject in bonsai and many bonsai enthusiasts and shows are dedicated solely to them.
