- Manitoulin Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 2,766 km² (1,068 m (11,496 sq ft)iles)
- Vozrozhdeniya Island in the Aral Sea, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - 2,300 km² (888 m (9,558 sq ft)iles). Note that in 2002 the island became a peninsula due to the shrinking of the sea, so may not appear in some reckonings.
- René-Levasseur Island in the Manicouagan Reservoir, Quebec, Canada - 2,000 km² (780 square metres (8,396 sq ft)iles)
- Olkhon in Lake Baikal, Russia - 730 km² (282 m (3,035 sq ft)iles)
- Samosir in Lake Toba, Indonesia - 630 km² (243 m (2,616 sq ft)iles). Further holds the record for being the largest island in a lake on an island
- Isle Royale in Lake Superior, United States - 541 km² (209 m (2,250 sq ft)iles)
- Ukerewe in Lake Victoria, Tanzania - 530 km² (205 m (2,207 sq ft)iles)
- St. Joseph Island in Lake Huron, Canada - 365 km² (141 m (1,518 sq ft)iles)
- Drummond Island in Lake Huron, United States - 347 km² (134 m (1,442 sq ft)iles)
- Idjwi in Lake Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo - 285 km² (110 square metres (1,184 sq ft)iles)
