Phonte Coleman

Phonte (b. Phonte Coleman) is an American rapper and a member of acclaimed North Carolina duo, Little Brother. His rhymes tend to be no-frills tales of working-class life. In addition to records by Little Brother, Phonte has also released a collaboration album with Dutch producer Nicolay under the group name Foreign Exchange, entitled Connected, and appeared on numerous records by other artists, most notably from the Justus League collective. He has recorded R&B-flavoured output as a singer under the name Percy Miracles.

Phonte often collaborates with members of the Maryland-based Low Budget Collective. He has been featured on DJ Shadow's release, titled The Outsider. Phonte has garnered some controversy with statements he made in his blogs about rap fans. It hurts him that he flops and more talented artists like Webbie succeed. Phonte has also spoken of his up-coming group called G.I.M.M.I.E. (Great Individuals Make the Most of Everything) with fellow Justus League members Chaundon and Rapper Big Pooh.
