Gong Yoo (Hangul: 공유) is a South Korean actor and model. He started his career in showbiz with small parts in dramas and films. However his acting talent caught the attention of casting directors and audiences and he has become an actor to watch for. His latest role as Choi Han Kyul for the MBC romantic comedy The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince solidified his status as a leading man. The popularity of the drama made it one of Korea's most watched dramas of 2007.

According to the Office of Military Manpower Administration, Gong, 28, will serve at a station in Uijeongbu-dong, Gyeonggi, starting Oct. 9. He will undergo the six weeks of bootcamp required for new conscripts. He said previously that he would enter service after completing his current mini-series in which he costars with singer-turned-actress Yoon Eun-hye. However, his label, sidusHQ, said Gong hasn't formally received an enlistment warrant but it was likely he would serve later this year.

After postponing his conscription, Gong Yoo is set to serve his military service starting January 14,2008. Including the 5 week basic training in Choongnam, Gong Yoo’s service will last a total of 20 months. --deeyawn05 02:38, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
