"My Student" is the 17th episode of the American sitcom Scrubs. It originally aired as Episode 17 of Season 1 on March 5, 2002.
Episode Synopsis
Turk, J.D. and Elliot all get medical students.
J.D. wants someone to be friends with, and gets a guy similar to him, Josh. Josh makes a lot of mistakes but Carla says it was just one mistake. J.D. snaps at Carla as all those mistakes add up to one big mess. Laverne informs J.D. that he needs to stay at the hospital and correct all Josh's mistakes, making him very angry. The next day Josh wakes up J.D. at his home. He wants to apologize for not doing great the day before. J.D. is still mad that he only came home in the morning after cleaning up after Josh yesterday. J.D. says he doesn't think Josh has what it takes to be a doctor. Josh silently agrees. Later at the hospital, Laverne informs J.D. that Josh quit. J.D. asks everybody if it was his mistake and they say it is. After failing to convince Josh to stay, J.D. pages him later, and, behaving very much like Dr. Cox, forces confidence onto Josh, making him realize he can do it.
Turk's med student is Kristen and Dr. Cox takes an immediate liking to her. At the cafeteria, Dr. Cox asks Turk to introduce him to Kristen. Turk is confused as Perry likes Carla. He says it is fine and he will continue to concentrate on Carla so Turk quickly introduces him to Kristen. Turk tells Dr. Cox, who is having trouble asking out Kristen, to ask about her because women want to talk about themselves. Later, when Dr. Cox has still not been able to ask Kristen out Turk tells Dr. Cox that he shouldn't be around Kristen and forbids Kristen to be around him. He has a plan. Soon after, Kristen goes to Dr. Cox's apartment and tries to kiss him, without much success. Perry admits that he is holding back because of this unavailable nurse he has on his mind. He doesn't think it is fair to Kristen but she wants to decide that on her own, so they kiss.
Elliot wants to have a jerk so he or she can suffer as much as she did when she started out. It turns out he is a jerk called Philip, who Elliot forces to shave a patient's groin. Later, Dr. Kelso introduces Elliot to Mr. Chambers, the CEO of the corporation that own this hospital. Elliot is confused why he would want to meet her. It turns out that he is the father of Philip, causing Elliot a great deal of fear. Philip says he doesn't want to do the things Elliot tells him to, and fearful about losing her job, she doesn't force him. However Philip annoys Elliot and she shouts at him. Dr. Kelso comes by and takes her into the storage closet to ask why she is doing all his work when she replies that she is afraid of losing her job, Dr. Kelso tells her that he is the one who has to suck up to the CEO, not her. Elliot finds Philip goofing off so she asks if they can start over. He disagrees and wants to continue goofing off, and if she has a problem with that she should go see his father. She says she will do that and suddenly Philip gets up and agrees to start fresh, but now Elliot doesn't want to, and from then on treats Philip very harshly.
