Not sure what you mean. There is no reason not to include umlauts or any other ASCII characters in titles, only Unicode doesn't work. --Wik 03:23, Dec 4, 2003 (UTC)

Whatever reasons some people have for excluding diacritics from titles (maybe because the URL looks strange with the encoded characters), this is not general policy. If the concern is to make non-umlauted links work, well, that's what redirects are for. By moving a page the redirect is automatically created, so you can still click on Tlon, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius and get to the article. --Wik 04:17, Dec 4, 2003 (UTC)
