Archive box
Please note that some articles have additional information in their "manual" archive boxes, such as date ranges, issues addressed within the archive and so on. I have reverted your change in the archive style at Talk:Albert Einstein (I hope you don't mind). Anyway, I trust you will use sound judgement on whether an automatic archive box works for a particular talk page or not. Cheers, Silly rabbit (talk) 04:28, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! Silly rabbit (talk) 14:51, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Can you please explain why you are switching archive boxes? SandyGeorgia (Talk) 15:29, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- Consistency and usability. I want to test this on enough pages to see what other variations are out there, thus making the template more flexible. See here for more info. Timneu22 (talk) 15:43, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
Regarding your message.
No, as you can clearly see, I am not. But, allow me to ask you, are you seriously changing the talk archive box on page after page without any discussion whatever? It seems to me that the editors who have worked on said pages might want to have a say in the matter. I am reverting the changes you made to the articles on my watchlist. I hope that other editors will make their feelings on the matter known, and then a consensus may be reached. ---RepublicanJacobiteThe'FortyFive' 16:20, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I'm not changing every article. Just a bunch to get started where it makes sense. Some of your reverts made sense, others did not. There will be a discussion. Just stay cool.
- I'm trying to move to a banner-like format that fits in the flow of the talk banners. "Archive box" is just floating out there for no reason. I'm trying to make things easier and more consistent. Timneu22 (talk) 16:22, 3 February 2008 (UTC)

I see that you are also altering archives on featured articles (such as Heavy metal) to your preference for a capital A; please stop. Lowercase a is standard formatting on featured article archiving, and there is no reason to be unilaterally altering archive naming. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 17:33, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- I am trying to provide consistency where there is none:
- Archive 1
- Archive1
- Archive01
- archive 1
- Sorry for trying to make wikipedia better. Timneu22 (talk) 17:35, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- In the light of all the discussions and comments about your edits I have reverted them where it seemed appropriate. Please do not alter talk pages in this way without proper discussion on those talk pages.
- Please read Do not disrupt Misplaced Pages to illustrate a point. In particular, note the warning about "Attempting to force an untoward interpretation of policy, or impose one's own view of 'standards to apply' rather than those of the community." And note the comment that "If you wish to change an existing procedure or guideline... set up a discussion page and try to establish consensus". You haven't established consensus so please don't behave as if you have.

STOP
you have IN NO WAY ANY RIGHT to be changing someone's user page, I agree that you should be reported. MrKIA11 (talk) 17:57, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
- When you alter another editor's userspace, it affects GFDL, and means that editor can't speedy delete the entry when done, since it is no longer only his/her input. You should never edit another editor's userspace. Please stop now. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 18:03, 3 February 2008 (UTC)
