Requests for IP check

  • Vandal and attack accounts may be listed here for the purpose of identifying and blocking the underlying IP address or open proxy. Requests to confirm sockpuppets of known users should be listed in the sockpuppet section above.
  • If you already know the IP address of the suspected open proxy, list it at Misplaced Pages:Open Proxies instead.
  • Use === Subsections ===; do not create subpages.
  • List user names using the {{checkuser|username}} template. Add new reports to the top of the section.
  • Requests may be acted on or declined according to the discretion of the checkuser admins. Responses will be noted here. Specific evidence of abuse in the form of diffs may be required so as to avoid the impression of fishing for evidence.
  • Answered requests will be moved to Misplaced Pages:Requests for checkuser/IP check/Archive for 7 days, after which they will be deleted. No separate archive (other than the page history) will be maintained.

Sockpuppets/IP vandal

Possibly dozens of others. This user is famous for vandalizing Cartoon Network articles. I believe this user once had an account Claymort. He no longer has an account with that name, but the talk page still exists. ] He has a problem with me because I kept reverting his vandalism. I connect this user to Claymort, because he often forgets what nym he was using when he made an edit. For instance, I got a message from Rhode Island Hero on my talk page, saying it had been a long time since we'd talked. Fact is, we had never talked. I also found rantings about me on several of the suspected sockpuppet's talk pages. This user has a habit of blanking his own talk pages. -- Elaich 22:26, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Attack accounts

These accounts showed up at Allegations of state terrorism committed by the United States trolling on the talk page and making disruptive edits. The names are an obvious attack on User:Ultramarine. Familiarity with Misplaced Pages jargon such as reverts suggests a sock puppet. The ip showed up and restored the blocked accounts edits Two very similar ips also showed within hours as well.  Confirmed - all of the above, also:
  1. Thecryptthing (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
  2. Stone put to sky (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) - likely sockmaster
- Alison 20:30, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Clerk note: All the accounts are now blocked, User:Stone put to sky was blocked by Slakr for editwarring (72h) prior to this dispute. -- lucasbfr 18:23, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Hempbilly

After engaging in 3RR, BLP, POV, NPA, etc., violations, this editor unrepentently vowed to continue the disruptive edits under anonymous IP accounts to avoid detection despite a block, and admitted that he has done so before. Inasmuch as the underlying edits involved inserting material about accusations of sex crimes against children in biographies of living people, it would be useful to know what anonymous IP accounts he was socking under to check for possible WP:BLP violations, and also to prevent ongoing disruption under the anonymous accounts. 23:26, 16 February 2008 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wikidemo (talkcontribs)

Goodness ... TDC has quite a block log. I blocked Hempbilly for 3RR this afternoon, but since he already has quite a block log to his credit, I'm inclined to make it quite a bit longer unless someone has a really good reason not to. --B (talk) 04:38, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Vandalized the Mantanmoreland RFAR case and Newyorkbrad's user talk page in the middle of the case. Brand new account, created today. Seems like a good idea to preemtively ensure that the IP hasn't created any other socks and doesn't further disrupt the arbcom proceedings. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 00:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

information Note: - no other socks, sorry, and the IP address is new on WP, so there's no history. I'm not going to block the IP as it's only transient and we don't pre-emptively block per policy - Alison 01:36, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

Badjapan

Troll and sockpuppet (of AirFrance358 (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log· investigate · cuwiki)). After I blocked him, he sent over 50 harassing e-mails to me using the Misplaced Pages e-mail function. Perhaps a complaint to his Internet provider is in order (or at least, blocking the underlying IP, especially if it's an open proxy). - Mike Rosoft (talk) 13:57, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

information Note: - each of these accounts use different IP addresses each time, so I'm not sure what can be done here - Alison 01:39, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
  • I don't know, either. I assume you mean that they are completely different addresses, perhaps from different providers, and that they don't happen to be open proxies. Correct? (By the way, is it possible to find out what IP address was used to e-mail me through Misplaced Pages?)

For now, I have temporarily disabled the "e-mail me" function; perhaps he'll get bored and knock it off. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 09:11, 17 February 2008 (UTC)

They are vandalizing Foundation for Family and Life. 124.107.99.106 is already blocked, but i think they might all be the same IP. Diffs: ClanCC (T / ) 07:56, 15 February 2008 (UTC) ClanCC (T / ) 07:56, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Voluminous (199, apparently the WP email limit for a day...) death threats and related threats of violence in emails following an indef block. Has been reblocked with email disabled, but the person seems likely to create another one based on emails, and just blocking the IP for a while would seem appropriate. Thanks. Eggd2

Here's everything from Category:Suspected Misplaced Pages sockpuppets of Eggd2:

There's a general pattern of vandalism, insults and nonsense from these accounts. No doubt there are dozens of other socks that haven't been tagged, and possibly some sleepers to boot. Would you mind whacking the IP(s) responsible? — Scientizzle 20:52, 5 February 2008 (UTC)
