LeFeber Northwoods

I wrote the book on LeFeber, quite litterally, and I personally wrote the wiki page for LNC.

The large part of the page is verbatim from "History of the Camps of LeFeber," an original document that I wrote in 2005 and continue to edit and add to. I consider these elements mine. Other select publications that I have generated for the Milw. Co. Council I have given up. This work that I do researching is my volition and I would expect--as all "good" Scouters in my experience have--to be given my due credit.Triptenator (talk) 08:00, 13 January 2008 (UTC)

Image:Urner Goodman and Troop1.jpg

Good morning Evrik, I can remove the green circle, but I'm worried that the average reader might be uncertain as to which person is EUG, without some form of highlighting or identification. Rather than say, "2nd row, 4th from left" in the caption, I figured this was better. What I could do is have both with and without, see Image:Ford Scout.jpg as an example.

I believe Albert Hay Malotte is in the photo, I'll dig into some notes to identify specifically. JGHowes - 15:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)

Urbandictionary.com link

I see that you have reverted my deletion of an urbandictionary.com link. Could you explain, please? My understanding is that Urban Dictionary is iffy as a source to begin with, and that it is generally only usable for slang terms when no other source can be found. Backhanded compliment, by contrast, is a well-known term with a long history. Surely there are more reliable sources for a definition. In any case, I don't see what the link adds to the article, especially given its incorrect information (such as the pseudo-definition "Any compliment a gay man gives to another gay man. Usually to cause drama.") -Phoenixrod (talk) 22:09, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Theodor Billroth

Thank you for your interest in the article on Theodor Billroth. However, I have undone the changes you made to the article, for the following reasons:

  • You added a heading "Background". But it is the only topical heading in the article, none of which is background. Background means information not specifically about the topic of the article - for example, a discussion of the period in which Billroth lived would be background. In any case, if you meant to divide the article up into sections, you must add additional section heads: "Youth and education", "Medical activities", "Musical activities", for example. Personally, I think such headings are unnecessary in an article of this length. But if you feel they are pertinent, don't just put in one, put in at least two.
  • You wikilinked avocation. This is unnecessary. Most people in this world know what an avocation is. If they don't, they can look it up themselves.
  • You moved the footnotes section below the External links section. This is incorrect. According to WP:External links: "If an article has external links, the standard format is to place them in a bulleted list under a primary heading at the end of the article." Footnotes should come before the External links section.

I realize that reverting someone is a pretty drastic thing to do. If you feel this was unjustified or incorrect, please discuss it on the Billroth talk page.

Thanks, --Ravpapa (talk) 20:10, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

Cecily Adams photo

Hi. I see you've put a new photo of my wife Cecily Adams on her Misplaced Pages page. As this is a personal photo, taken by me, which appears on my personal MySpace page, I would have been very happy if you had asked permission. I'm not necessarily opposed to its use on the page. But I'm unhappy that my permission was not sought for the use of a personal photo. Jim Beaver —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.123.225.220 (talk) 01:10, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I don't know if you are Jumblejim, but that photo was loaded into the commons. If you are who you say you are, you might want to look and see who has been impersonating you. --evrik  16:20, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
  • Forgive me. I'm an idiot. I completely forgot releasing that photo to the commons. Feel free to delete this conversation from your talk page. Is there a WP page on memory loss? Jim Beaver —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.123.225.220 (talk) 16:59, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Rather than redirecting to the air, you might redirect to Hobby. And add a sentence to that article that a hobby is an avocation.--Ravpapa (talk) 15:05, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Picnic table

Hi Evrik!

Exactly what did you want to know about the image? I noticed you tagged it on Wikimedia Commons (thanks!) as being a Scouting project, so I assume you're a Boy Scout? I built five of those tables for a local park for my Eagle project. The plans I used are available online here, if you want them. If there's anything else I can tell you, let me know! Cheers, bdesham  16:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Image:Eagle scout project.jpg

What can you tell me about this photo Image:Eagle scout project.jpg? --evrik  16:27, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

That was my eagle scout project, it was at the walking track at my local YMCA, it is a very large track, with several soccer fields in the center of it, and there was no water fountain around it, I got the project approved through the scout office, planned the fountain(of which drainage was the worst part, there was no sewer there, we put a underground drainage tunnel in), solicited donations, coordinated the project, and got it completed. Oh and have my court of honor :P. I have an entire binder full of pics of the entire project, plus all the commendations from senators, congresspeople, the President if I remember right, everyone we sent stuff off to that returned something. Hopefully that answers any questions you have, and feel free to ask if ya need anything else. I'll upload some others if ya want them, either in progress or anything else. Dureo (talk) 16:48, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
I've updated the info I have, I am not sure on the date at the moment(the binder is at my sisters, I am out of my house for a few months, rebuilding it, I'll go grab the binder in a bit, and get that info. Dureo (talk) 17:08, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Amateur SETI Page

Evrik - Thanks for reminding me that I started a article. What I did was to clone the article on Amateur Radio because I liked the layout and was working on my own version of it. Life got in the way and I completly forgot about it.

I am still working on my own SETI station http://www.SETI.Net and when I finally get it back on the air I'll go back and complete the article.

Templates

Still have a little work to do with the Central and Southeast Asia templates, but that should be finished by Monday at the latest. What I'll do is make a few draft templates for Philadelphia and Southern California in userspace with the options you requested, and then place them on the talk page, so that you can see what they look like in practice. Then, if they're agreeable to you, you can replace them into the existing templates. Regarding the Saints banner, that might be best turned into a subtemplate of the Biography banner. I haven't worked on that one yet, but there are a couple other potential groups to add to that one, and I can see if I can get it to accomodate that group then. Philadelphia banner and Southern California banner

Have a beginning of a possible banner at User:John Carter/Philadelphia banner, which still needs a little work, I have to admit. I do have a few questions though. Right now, it looks like the scope of the Philadelphia project includes content relating to New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and the Delaware Valley. Is this accurate, because, if it is, then the banner probably should include those state's projects as well. The same basic question applies to the Southern California banner, which could potentially include the Santa Barbara project as well. Would you prefer to see in these cases the "state" project banner worked on to be designed for the so-called subprojects, or the "sub-state" project's banner adjusted to include details for the larger project? Harshing my mellow

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Harshing my mellow, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Misplaced Pages's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Misplaced Pages is not" and Misplaced Pages's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Harshing my mellow. How about we give them around 2 days to decide before nominating them all for deletion? At that time, would you nominate them and drop me a message on my talk page so that I can comment too? Ok

I admit I was a little harsh but generally there is not valid reason to remove tags especially when you or your bot were saying my edits were some sort of test and that I should use the sandbox instead.

Also please stop adding the Havarti cheese thing back onto my page. Each time you edit it you add it back. If you review the Havarti article you will see that not only was the edit constructive, after I re-added it (a malicious bot removed it) it has remained there ever since.

Warmest regards,

California Cuisine

Thus far I believe you have only sourced facts for "Fusion cuisine is accepted and popular in California" and perhaps "openness to new eating experiences" but I believe most people are open to new eating experience, even if they do not live in California (what defines a "Californian" BTW? Someone born there? Someone who current lives there? Someone who has lived there, but does not currently reside in California? The Governator was born in Austria... is he considered a "Californian?" The article does not state he is but refers to others being "Californian")64.238.172.212 (talk) 03:05, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Order of the Arrow

Evrik: Hello, sorry, but I have to ask that you please don't be in such a rush to archive the Order of the Arrow talk page. While the discussions originated with A's actions, there are a number of valid questions and concerns that were raised during the talk that need to be addressed. Moving the discussions away can inadvertently create an appearance of "secrecy". Better to keep everything out in the open. Thoughts? --Ckatzspy 16:03, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Good Faith

Please do not warn good faith editors for vandalism such as you did here. The edits in question appeared to be good faith adding citations and enhancing the article. IF you have an issue with a change made to an article, address it personally with the change creator. Issuing templated vandalism warnings to experienced editors acting in good faith is generally not a very good idea. Chrislk02 00:56, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Further review appears that you may be in an edit war of some sort over inclusion of a poster. IT is especially inappropriate to start throwing vandalism warnings onto pages of editors you may be engaged in an edit war with. Especially with it apepars they are acting in good faith. Chrislk02 01:01, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Hello, Evrik.

Hello, Evrik. I hope you don't mind too much. I deleted your message from User talk:Mikkalai. I don't usually go around deleting messages like that. The thing is, it's a rather delicate situation because Mikkalai's interaction with the rest of the community has been following an unusual pattern lately. See Mikkalai's talk page history if you're curious. It's fine if you want to explain to Mikkalai why you're reverting his edits. I suggest that you explain it in edit summaries and/or on the article talk page rather than on his user talk page. Also, I suggest you give an actual reason why you're restoring the image, rather than just saying you've reverted his test. Note that Mikkalai gave a reason in an edit summary as to why he was deleting the image. I don't think you've answered that, i.e. I don't think you've addressed the reason he gave or argued why that reason doesn't apply or supplied a counter-reason to keep the image. Please note Misplaced Pages:Don't template the regulars. Mikkalai is a longstanding member of the community and doesn't deserve to receive templated warnings that were designed for new users. If you post to his talk page, please write a personal message that doesn't sound like a standard template. I hope you'll work with me to try to make Misplaced Pages a welcoming place for Mikkalai, and I hope my action of reverting your message doesn't make Misplaced Pages unwelcoming for you!! --Coppertwig (talk) 01:05, 19 March 2008 (UTC)
