Ferras Alqaisi (Arabic: فراس القيسي; born 1982), known as Ferras, is an American Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who is signed with EMI as part of Capitol Records.
Early Life
Ferras was born in a Gillespie, a small town in Southern Illinois. His parents divorced when he was young. At the age of five, one day his father took him to the airport promising a trip to Disneyland, instead spiriting him away to Amman, Jordan. He stayed in his father's native country for three months, and there began writing songs, taking solace in the Casio keyboard that his father gave him.

Ferras was signed to EMI's Capitol Music Group after an audition for the label's chairman Jason Flom while on Spring Break from Berklee College of Music.
Ferras then flew to New York City to cut the demos which would eventually form his debut album Aliens & Rainbows, which was released on March 11, 2008.
The first single from the album will be "Hollywood's Not America" (co-written by the Matrix' Lauren Christy), and will be featured as the "exit song" of part of Season 7 of American Idol.
Ferras made his first national performance of his first single on February 12, 2008 on the Today Show.
