The incident has been termed a "reverse Sokal Affair", though Bogdanoff brothers, unlike Sokal, do not admit to hoax, but claim that their papers are scientific. They even used "research" reported in those papers to get doctorate degrees in theoretical physics from from the University of Bourgogne, France.
In 2004 they published a book ("Before the Big Bang") and made a TV show from it where they presented their own so-called theory as the bleeding edge of modern physics and cosmology. Both are full of egregious nonsense (such as "The volume of the solar system has grown twice since the beginning of Earth's history").
