Hideki Matsui, nicknamed Godzilla, has created well-deserved excitement from the Yankees fans, and not just because of the dozens of reporters and photographers who have followed him from his home in Tokyo, Japan. Hideki exceeded expectations, collecting 179 hits in 623 at bats, 42 of the hits being doubles and 1 being a triple, earning a .287 batting average in his rookie year as a Bronx Bomber. Hideki was a three-time MVP in the Central League, playing for the Tokyo Yomiuri Giants (previously known for Sadaharu Oh, who hit the most career home runs in the history of baseball, with 868.), Japan's most famous team.
