It falls in Owk Mandal (Anantapur district), surrounded by villages, Uppalapadu (Owk Mandal), Nereducherla, Boorugula, Boincheruvupalli and Racherla (Dhone Taluk in the Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh). It is nearly 320 kilometres away from Hyderabad.
Kambagiri swamy is a very powerful god in Hindu gods. Kambagiri Swamy brothers has seven brothers. Lord Vishnu appears in the form of a varanus here. He is popularly known as Kambagiri Rama. In summer, there is huge water problem and it is very hot and hence devotees need to come prepared with water. Every year on the full moon day of Chaithra (15 days after Ugadi), a Tirunalla takes place which is attended by lakhs of devotees. Special government buses run to aid the devotees. Kambagiri Swami's brothers are seven.

Kambagiri swami is a powerful god. Whatever you pray for in front of Kambagiri swami, you will see the result very soon.
He have two wives.
1. Sadda Lakkama
2. Sadda Lakshamma
The way to reach the temple is to reach Dronachellam (Dhone) by train/bus and then take a bus to Kommemarri or Boorugula to reach the village Racherla. There is a Ghat road to the temple from Racherla. In Erramala forests, the temple is very cute and every full moon day, the temple looks very colourful. At Dhone bus stand one has to take a bus to Kommemarri and alight at Racherla. Some Yadiki or Banaganapalli buses also ply on this route.
On the bus route to Peapully/Gooty/Dhone from Banaganapalli, one should debus at Garladinne bus stop and change bus or other vehicle via Racherla to Kambagiri Swami temple. Or from Yadiki, one should take a bus to Racherla.
Presently this temple is managed by the local strongman and Owk Congres MLA Chella Rama Krishna Reddy and his family. The temple Pujari's name is Madhu swami.
