Duman is a Turkish pop-rock band which inspires many Turkish teenagers to get involved with Turkish pop-rock. It has unique eastern vocals with western guitars and drums. Duman consists of Kaan Tangöze (vocals and lead guitar), Batuhan Mutlugil (rhythm guitar and back vocals), and Ari Barokas (bass guitar and back vocals). In early 90s, Kaan had been in Seattle and it was when he first wrote a song for a Turkish rock band he wanted to form in future. He had been performing with a band called Mad Madame then and when he came back to Turkey, he met with Batuhan Mutlugil and Ari Barokas who had been performing with a band called Blue Blues Band then. After a certain time, they formed the original group and had their name as “Duman” which means literally “smoke” in Turkish. They had some problems with drums but they decided to work with different drummers all the time. They had been working with a drummer called Alen Konakoğlu for a long time but they have worked with another drummer in their last album. Duman recorded four albums including one performance album since now. They released their first album, “Eski Köprünün Altında” in 1999 and their second, “Belki Alışman Lazım” in 2002. Both two albums were great successes in Turkey and caused many Turkish rock bands to be formed by the new generation. In 2004, they released their third album, a performance album, “Konser” which was recorded in one of their concerts in Bostancı Gösteri Merkezi (Bostancı Concert Hall), Istanbul. They have just released their fourth album, “Seni Kendime Sakladım” in July, 2005. Their hit tracks include “Köprüaltı”, “Herşeyi Yak”, “Oje”, “Masal”, “Seni Kendime Sakladım”.
