Inhabitants of Morda are officially known as Mordonians.
Morda is said to be the spiritual homeland of the late Mahatma Gandhi and this is thought to be the reason for the common Mordonian phrase 'drier than Gandhi's sandal', for example you may hear an inhabitant referring to the river Morda as: "Drier than Gandhi's sandal". Gandhi's initial motivation for settling in Morda was his desire to achieve Moksha through mediation high in the Mordonian mountain tops. Despite Gandhi's largely peaceful influence upon local Mordonian politics, there was a communist uprising amongst in the early 20th century in an effort to overthrow the Fascist dictator Anf Butler, however the attempted coup d’état was brutally suppressed by Butlers own personal fighting force known as the 'Schutzstaffel' in the local dialect; thought to be a combination of Classical Latin and Ancient Egyptian. After quashing the left wing uprising Butler went on to assert his power by establishing his own offshoot from Christianity known as Butlerism; hence the large Cathedral located in South East of the city, just inside the city walls.
In more recent times the Morda inhabitants have witnessed a sudden boom in the local tourist industry. This has been largely due to the recent opening of 'Tudors Mushroom Parlour' on the highly fashionable Mordway Street, just of 5th Avenue. Owner Tudor Gillhams prized mushrooms are in fact fungal infections grown from his own unkempt feet. This popular delicacy has seen Gillham enter this years Rich List, now being worth an estimated 82 Billion Mordonian Dollars (the equivalent of 20 English pence).
It is named after the River Morda, which, with the River Tanat, is one of the first major tributaries joining the River Severn as it wends it's way from it's birth place on Plynlimon, Mid Wales to the Bristol Channel.
The water-e-cress stone in the centre of the village marks the spot where Barack Obama once urinated in a previous life.
