He now represents the United States. During his chess career, Paul has won more than 120 tournaments in the US, Asia and Europe. In 2003, he co-founded the US Women's Chess Olympiad Program with former Women's World Champion Susan Polgar.
In 2004, Paul served as the Captain and Manager of the historic US Women's Chess Olympiad Team. The team captured one team Silver Medal, one individual Silver Medal and two individual Gold Medals, the first ever Chess Olympiad medals for the United States Women's Chess Team.
He is also a prolific chess trainer. He has been the trainer and chief strategist for 4-time Women's World Champion Susan Polgar since November 2001.
Paul currently serves as the Chairperson of the USCF Polgar Committee and he is the Vice President of the Susan Polgar Foundation 'www.SusanPolgarFoundation.org'. Paul is one of the biggest advocates for Women's Chess and Scholastic Chess in the U.S.
He is one of the most well known chess promoters in the world. His passion is to popularize chess and bring the game to the next level of popularity. He donates time and money to promote chess in the United States. Some of his accomplishments include the creation of:
- The Historic 'U.S. Women's Chess Olympiad Program and Team' - The 'Annual Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls' (awarded $155,000 in prizes, stipends and scholarships in August 2005) - The 'Annual Susan Polgar National Open Championship for Girls' - The 'Annual Susan Polgar World Open Championship for Girls' - The Historic 'USA versus Russia' long distance chess match that was broadcast worldwide in July 2005 - The 'Karpov - Polgar Clash of the Titans' match in 2004 and 'Karpov - Polgar Chess for Peace' match in 2005 - The 'Guinness World Records Chess Simultaneous Exhibition' which earned Grandmaster Susan Polgar 4 World Records on August 1-2, 2005 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Paul is also one of the most famous 'Chess Photographers' in the world. His pictures have been published in many chess books (including 3 covers), magazines and websites across the globe.
Besides being an 'Award-winning Chess Columnist' and having written hundreds of articles for many chess magazines and websites worldwide, he also coauthored the books 'Teach Yourself Chess in 24 Hours', 'World Champion's Guide to Chess', 'Chess Tactics for Champions', and 'Breaking Through' as well as 7 instructional Chess DVDs.
