Protected User:XLinkBot/RevertList has been protected so that only administrators may edit it due to its high sensitivity.
To request a change to it, please list a request here.

User:XLinkBot/RevertList is meant to be used by User:XLinkBot. Unlike the meta spam blacklist and the local spam-blacklist, the revertlist does not disable the use of a link, but its addition gets reverted if there is significant inappropriate use (by unestablished editors). Any administrator may edit the RevertList and the accompanied override and lock-lists (User:XLinkBot/OverrideList, User:XLinkBot/HardOverrideList, User:XLinkBot/UserLocks, User:XLinkBot/PageLocks.

    Dealing with requests

Any admin unfamiliar with this page should probably read this first, thanks
    1. User:XLinkBot generally reverts only new users (users who created an account less than 7 days ago), and IP-users, hence, users which are generally not familiar with our Policies and guidelines. This can be altered by the settings and override and lock lists.
    2. Does the link generally get used in an inappropriate way by unestablished users, but does it not qualify for the meta spam blacklist or the local spam-blacklist since there are documents on the same server that should/could be used as an external link or reference?
    3. Make the entry at the bottom of the list (before the last line). Please do not do this unless you are familiar with regex —the disruption that can be caused is substantial.
    4. Close the request entry on here using either {{done}} or {{not done}} as appropriate. The request should be left open for a week maybe as there will often be further related sites or an appeal in that time.
    5. Log the entry. Warning: if you do not log any entry you make on the blacklist, it may well be removed if someone appeals and no valid reasons can be found. To log the entry, you will need this number - 222041536 after you have closed the request. See here for more info on logging.

There are four sections for posting comments below. Please make comments in the appropriate section. The sections are: Proposed additions, Proposed removals, Troubleshooting and problems, and Discussion. Each section has a message box with instructions. In addition, please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment.

Completed requests are archived. All additions and removals are also logged.

"Does the link generally get used in an inappropriate way by unestablished users, but does it not qualify for the meta spam blacklist or the local spam-blacklist since there are documents on the same server that should/could be used as an external link or reference?" Definately. My essay provides plenty of evidence regarding the many problems with the link being used in articles.

Not done, seems to have stopped already (maybe blacklisted). We really should follow up on this more quickly .. --Dirk Beetstra 08:01, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

    Flickr.com

Free hosting site for images, not sure about abuse, therefore posting here to monitor:

Comment Some images on Flickr are hosted under a Creative Commons Licence. Some of those (not all) are suitable for use on Misplaced Pages. Blocking of this site could create problems for existing images uploaded to Misplaced Pages, and prevent future images being used when they may be needed to illustrate an article. Mjroots (talk) 11:13, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
This is not blocking, this is reverting inappropriate additions, which, I am afraid, is true for most of the additions by unestablished editors of domains on this list. If they are needed, they can be re-added by reverting the bot, etc. etc. Also, the image namespace is not reverted by the bot. --Dirk Beetstra 10:07, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

    fracknaps.com

This site hosts scans of printed matter. Mainly seeing this used for posting links to scanned articles from video game magazines against WP:COPY policy; see eg Special:Contributions/Kinoku (the entire history of this user is spamlinking this site) and this (single addition by a more experienced user). Not many links to the site yet, but so far every single one is a copyvio problem. Bazzargh (talk) 17:49, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Done, user may need a block. --Dirk Beetstra 08:08, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

    tamilnet.tv

A parody/attack site with no value to the encyclopedia (see TamilNet for an example of how the link is (mis)used). Black Falcon 23:01, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

    www.myorehab.net/articles/article-archive.htm and www.AIMS-LLC.org

(not quite sure how this works, should 1st URL be for the base address of www.myorehab.net or to the specific subpage ?)

MyoRehab clinic links repeatedly added to multiple pages by differing IPs following block of a user.

Given been able to repeatedly spam from more than one IP, I think the links to the clinic's various web presences should be blocked.David Ruben 01:03, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

Having just blocked 68.35.21.191, Strhoppr (talk · contribs) immediately reappeared after an absence of 18 months (so blocked as sockpuppet=meatpuppet for spamming & circumventing IP's block). Given now apparent that multiple accounts are being used for this spamming, including old inactive accounts (which if I read above instructions this bot wont catch ?) - I've asked User:Hu's help in how to have links perminently barred - please let me know if I'm not using or implementing url-block proceedures correctly :-) David Ruben 01:59, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Crude instructions, however the should help some. Found a few more IP and added them to my talk page. hope it helps.--Hu12 (talk) 02:58, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully now blocked - thanks. David Ruben 03:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
Put some instructional stuff together User:Hu12/Spam-blacklisting figured other admins may be unfamiliar, perhaps I may add it over @ WP:NAS. Either way, thanks for asking ;)--Hu12 (talk) 06:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

    earlmuntz.com

Several IPs (most likely the same person as they all resolve to the same shared IP) persist in adding an external link (while often redacting others and damaging citations in the process) to the Madman Muntz article despite having repeatedly been asked not to, warned, and blocked. The external link is to a website that is almost entirely a copy and paste of the Misplaced Pages article itself (the remainder is copyvio from other fansites), plus a huge lot of copyvio images from uncredited sources. The link does not conform to WP:EL. Diffs:

Since this user simply resumes spamming the link under new IPs when they are blocked, I'm hoping we can spamlist the link. Nobody of Consequence (talk) 23:48, 4 June 2008 (UTC)

    Proposed removals

Use this section to request that a URL be unlisted. Please add new entries to the bottom of this section. You should show where the link can be useful and give arguments as to why it should be unlisted. Completed requests should be marked with {{Done}} or {{Notdone}} or other appropriate Indicator then archived.
