Hey E_man. Do me a favour. Keep an eye on uber-edit-warrior User:Johan Rachmaninov. It doesn't matter how many people edit the pages he wants to own he reverts them. I discussed his case with Pat the other day but I decided to AGF him for dozens of 3RR vios. I am not going to AGF anymore. WP:LA

Hi - Unless I do something special, 52pickup will be readded to the active list until his (her) last 30 edits are within the last 3 months (mid July I suppose). I suppose it's pretty clear when editors stop editing completely that they're gone but the active/semi-active/inactive algorithm doesn't really take this into account. I think I'd like to keep "inactive" as "no edits in the last three months", but I suppose there could be a "no edit in the last " criteria for semi-active. I agree that there should be a criterion added that would shift an admin from active to semi-active once they haven't edited for n days. I'm no expert, but I would say 30 days for sure, possibly less. Enigma 02:53, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

See Misplaced Pages:User_page#Ownership and editing of pages in the user space , you do not own your userpage, it belongs to the community. I endorse Enigmaman's decision in this matter. Your RFA has no chance of passing - it wasn't even formatted correctly. I'm afraid that Enigma is absolutely correct. You have the right to blank whatever you wish on your talk page as that is your prerogative. However (and this is a big however), you do not own your userpage. It belongs to Misplaced Pages since it is public domain. Also, see WP:NOTMYSPACE. Userspace is not the property of the user and you cannot prevent other users from editing it. With regards to WP:SNOW and closing RfAs. Any user in good standing (whether they are a crat, admin or non-admin) may close the process if it is certain to fail. SNOW is an extension of WP:IAR. Wisdom89 _{(T / )} 20:40, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if you agree with that? Would you prefer waiting until he got 25 opposes? Obviously edit count is not what determines who is suited for adminship, but a user with under 500 edits is not even going to get close to passing an RfA. Just a heads up

I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter.  :(

So, where do we go from here?

To new and even more interesting projects, of course!

As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.

Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.

It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!

This is going to be interesting.

And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!

If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.

Automatic edit summaries

In regards to your automatic edit summaries you've used in reverts to the Chris Long article. Usually you only use the automatic revert summaries when you're reverting vandalism. Both of the edits were good-faith edits. I would suggest that when you revert a good-faith edit you not use the automatic edit summary, and instead explain why you reverted the edit. Continually changing it like that makes it clear that it's vandalism. I've never heard anywhere that they're brothers, because they aren't, and no newspaper/TV station/radio station would say they are. Danilo Gallinari

I have reverted your change of Danilo Gallinari's team status. He is not a member of the Mavericks until he is signed to a contract, and that has not yet taken place. I helped file a report about a vandal who was repeatedly hitting my page and making threats to many users, so I know the feeling. As long as your userpage and talk page are semi-protected and move-protected, you should be in good shape. We need contributors with a thick skin who won't back down from the vandals, because the vandal/troll is trying to get you to quit. That's why they do these things. I just noticed that. I was trying to leave word on the admin noticeboard saying I'd returned and while the section is listed in the index, it wasn't coming up on the page. Not a bug. I didn't look at the code, but I'm pretty sure what happened was that someone used "{collapse}" on the previous discussion, and didn't close the tag. That led to everything after it being included in the collapse. Enigma 05:11, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

The edit summary ending in don't like it, too bad pretty much reveals the editor's intentions to ignore WP:3RR, WP:CON, WP:CIVIL and every other WP:X he can get in there. :D . What is Around the World?

It's a collaboration!

A collaboration using advanced wiki-tools!

The event is being co-sponsored by Wikiproject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography, and participants will be "traveling" all around "the World" visiting each country online (here on Misplaced Pages) as they apply advanced wiki-tools to improve pieces of the profiles of each and every country on Earth!. Each pass through these pages is a "trip around the World..."

The set of pages we are working is currently located at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.

Each page presents essential information on each country in a topic outline format, for ease of overviewing and navigating. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a hypertextual map to material about each country on Misplaced Pages. When completed, they shall all become part of Misplaced Pages's contents system.

The pages share a standard format, with the information on each country presented in the same general order. So rather than getting stuck on a single country trying to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages!

For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees.  :) The energy is contagious.

And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.

The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.

Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.

Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.

They are on a dial-up. All they do is hang up, redial and get a new IP. It happens every so often. The sad thing is they never seem to figure out that there is only one of them and lots of us with rollback tools. I am restoring this page to how it were before some Ip users change, with some cosusions to make both those who whaned prog death and commas in the page. These user changed the page without consenus, therefore I see fit to revert these edits. While I did go overboard, I wish to make an effort so we don't go though a very messy edit war.
