Space marines are fictional soldiers that operate in outer space. They are usually specifically trained for infantry attacks on a planet from an interplanetary ship (thus parallelling true Marines, who are trained to attack land from a water-bound vessel). Space marines are common in science fiction, especially in science fiction-themed action movies and action games. Space marines were popularized by Robert A. Heinlein's novel Starship Troopers (where they were called the Mobile Infantry).

Space Marine is currently a trademark owned by Games Workshop for their table-top game Warhammer 40,000, and it can be said that other versions of Space Marines generally draw inspiration from Warhammer 40,000 or are at least linked to Warhammer 40,000 in some way or other. They are the stars of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and are undoubtably the most popular army with most Warhammer 40,000 gamers, representing a versatile and easy-to-paint force for the game.

Space marines typically wear power armor and are equipped with futuristic weapons such as various bolters, melta weapons, plasma weapons and missile launchers.

Space marines have been featured in the following films, games, novels, and television shows:
