Damage in Wilhelm scream
Hi, and sorry for your loss. I assume that this edit was an accident? I hope it was not caused by a bug in the tool that you used. My bot put back the deleted interwiki links today, but the damage is still mostly undone. --Silvonen (talk) 07:04, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi thank you for your condolences at my loss, I just looked at the edit that I made using Twinkle, It appears that there was a massive bug in twinkle, because I was only removing a bunch of dead red-linked pages, I never meant to remove a huge hunk of the article in question and as far as I had known, Twinkle did not have the ability to remove huge sections articles without any user confirmation, therefore I am assuming that I have stumbled onto a bug and after I am done typing this message, I am going to report the bug so that it can be looked into. I would just like to apologize for all of this, as I said earlier, I was just using Twinkle to remove a bunch of dead links in an effort to clean up the article, I never meant or authorized Twinkle to go and remove such a large section of the article. Once again I apologize for this mess that my tool has caused and I hope to get this bug fixed as soon as possible, --Mifter (talk) 11:41, 2 April 2008 (UTC)

Comment from 68.9.136.175
So you warn me of adding relevant information to a page that is all fun anyway, and yet there are hundreds of things going unnoticed all the time. Why don't you check out the page for George Norcross- is crooked a fair way to describe a generally respected politician? The Duck's mascot is the only mascot in NHL history to appear on the jersey, and was just voted the ugliest of all time by a hockey website, and is also generally considered among the ugliest of all time. Take a look at it please, because I'll bet you have never seen it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.136.175 (talk) 22:40, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, first off Misplaced Pages has a policy of a NPOV (Netrual Point of View) which the edits you made violated, also many edits may slip under the radar of Recent Changes patrollers, but that doesn't make them allowed and if they are seen they are generally removed. Finally, the site that you referred fails Misplaced Pages's policy of verifiability and thus is not an excuse for adding a point of view to an article. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask them on my talk page :). Thanks, --Mifter (talk) 22:49, 4 April 2008 (UTC) (Note: A copy of this message will be transcribed onto the IP's talk page)
What about the first sentence of that original edit? Is that not neutral too? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.9.136.175 (talk) 22:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, when I revert vandalism, the tool I use is called rollback which removes all the edits that that particular user has made, anyways, I have just re-added the September 11th fact back into the article. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks,--Mifter (talk) 23:27, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for voting in my RfA, which passed with 194 supporting, 9 opposing, and 4 neutral. Your kindness and constructive criticism is very much appreciated. I look forward to using the tools you have granted me to aid the project. I would like to give special thanks to Tim Vickers, Anthony and Acalamari for their nominations. Thank you again, VanTucky |
Rfa thanks
Thanks for supporting my recent request for adminship which was successful with 89 supports, 0 opposes, and 2 neutrals. Unfortunately all I can offer is this lame text thanks rather than some fancy-smancy thank-you spam template thingy. I was very pleased to receive such strong support and to hear so many nice comments from editors whom I respect. I’ll do my best with the tools, and if you ever see me going astray don’t hesitate to drop a note on my talk page. Thanks again for your support!--Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 04:02, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

UAA report
Why did you report I LOVE YOU ALOT223 (talk · contribs)? It's not a violation that I can see, and all you said was it was "misleading". EVula // talk // ☯ // 21:08, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, First off I would like to apologize for the report because my reasons for the report were really not that good. I reported the username for two reasons, one being that it could be construed as misleading users to think that the user has affection for that user which could lead to some personal attacks, and two being that it looked as if the name could be a vandalism only account because its in all caps, I understand that my reasons are not that good, but if you look at these diffs which are the only edits that the user has made, both of which appear to warrant that this may be a vandalism only account. Once again I apologize for all of this, --Mifter (talk) 21:17, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- No worries, mate. The "false affection" bit is a stretch, as far as WP:U violations go. As for the edits themselves, the Halo 2 edit is definitely stupid, but the Boyle's Law edits are best dismissed as test edits; no need to classify it as a vandalism-only account at this time.
As an aside, though, I think you're spot on about the correlation between all caps and vandalism-only accounts. I wouldn't be surprised if they were blocked in the future, but for now, they seem alright, just a little bit green. EVula // talk // ☯ // 21:23, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

About your Barnstar
It is a great idea. I made two more, if you'd care to consider them. Tried to make them look a little like badges.
You are welcome to them if you like. SGT141 (talk) 20:17, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the Image suggestions, the only thing that I don't like is that the Images have a white background, so when they are used in the template, the background of the template doesn't match the star's background. Just out of curiosity, which Image program did you use to make the images? Because I have always wondered how people make Images like that :). Anyways, thanks for the suggestions :), if you could figure out the change the Image backround to match the templates color, or simply remove the backround, I would be more than happy to use the Images :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 19:12, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
OK, they should have transparent backgrounds now. I am using Photoshop for this, but I am not as proficient as I would like to be. I took an image of a five pointed badge and copied the color over a barnstar image, made it uniform and added the details to match the multiple barnstars in use. If you would like any other changes or images, let me know. I'll try to be of assistance. Stay Safe! SGT141 (talk) 03:35, 4 May 2008 (UTC)
Editing
Yesterday I had edited a city's population from 9,035 to 11,027. This population was accurate information from the city's website. Today, however, I checked the population that I had edited and it was back to 9,035! I checked the history of the page and it appears that an administrator had reported my update as vandalism! Did I do something wrong? Do I need to provide proof of the edits that I make? I just want to make Misplaced Pages better and I am being called a vandalist! Jesussavior (talk) 21:05, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, I just looked at the page, and the edit that was linked to by the template (See here) and the warning was issued to you for adding your signature to the article namespace, this is a very easy mistake to make and is also very easy to fix, in the future just remember not to add your signature to the article, also, Misplaced Pages articles use official United States census population results which are published every couple of years not local census results, this is done in a effort to maintain consistent population data across all articles, being that some local municipalities have censuses at different times from other areas which can lead to in-consistent results, and the official U.S. census is always done at the same time across the United States which insures consistency across all articles. I have removed the warning template that was issued to you, and I have substituted it with a template about signing article namespaces. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 19:35, 3 May 2008 (UTC)

Can I be of assistance to you? Chubbennaitor 06:24, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
I published a typo
Hi Mifter, I'm a newbie and inserted a company reference in the waterjet cutter content section. I was basically getting familiar with the system and trying to add another company reference like the one for Flow International. I was able to get the message to publish, but misspelled waterjet. Yep, I'm a dope. My intention is to actually add some content of value at some point, but I'm just getting started - How do I edit this? LoDown Chicago (talk) 19:42, 6 May 2008 (UTC)
LoDown Chicago
- Hi there, well first off, if you want to add some content to a page, you should generally try to find a topic area that you are rather knowledgeable about or that you are interested in (There literally thousands of stubs which are VERY short articles that could use some improvement :) ), then you can find some new information that is not currently in the article ( Try searching for the page topic on a search engine ) and add it to the article with some citations, and then your good, the following are a bunch of pages that have information that you may find useful: (You don't have to read all of the pages, I'm simply recommending that if your lost these pages have lots of useful info to help you out :) )
If you have any more questions feel free to ask me or another editor :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:48, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hi there, the Image that you up-loaded was marked to be deleted because you did not add an Image Copyright Tag which is required to be on all Images by Misplaced Pages Policy, in order for it to remain on Misplaced Pages, you need to add one of the License tags that to the Image. The Copyright Tags for Images can be found here, just select a tag, and add it onto the Image and your done :). If you have any more questions about Copyright Tags or anything else wither it be Image related or about editing in general, feel free to ask me :). Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg
Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg has been tagged by you as non compatible. This image seems perfectly good for uploading on commons as it is not a copyright image. Author of this image has already tagged it so on flickr. It is tagged "Attribution" "Noncommercial" "Share Alike". I think this should be ok to upload on commons. --gppande «talk» 09:04, 12 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there :), unfortunately as you said Image:Gangtok ropeway.jpg is licensed as "Attribution" "Noncommercial" "Share Alike", but the only problem is that the commons does not allow Images with the "Noncommercial" tag (See the Bolded section at the top of here), if you could get the Flickr user to change the license so that it does not have the "Noncommercial" clause in its license, then it would be fine to be on the commons :). If you need me to re-review the image if you get the license changed you can contact me at my Commons Talk Page. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the best, --Mifter (talk) 00:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining. I have left a message to photo author on its flickr page. Lets see if he comes back on it. Otherwise I am fine with the fate of this image. --gppande «talk» 07:32, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello Mifter, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation in my RfA which was passed with a final tally of 114/10/4. I'm both shocked and honoured to gain so much support from users whom I admire and trust, and I hope I can avoid breaking that backing by being the best administrator I possibly can. You not helping and not making wikipedia better place to learn by blocking my IP as a "vandal" because it's simply not true ... bad thing that some people without knowledge have too much time and power to block truthful and right entries ... good luck BTW ... like I said to other "cops " here ... you have lost big supporter . how to add a tag to the image?! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omegapowers (talk • contribs) 12:13, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, I have just read the caption that you left for the Image, and because you said that you released Image into the Public Domain, and as such I have added a public domain tag to the Image. In response to your question though, in order to add a tag to an Image, you must first find that tag that you want, then you add the text that would be show somewhere near the Image it self, ex. {{PD-self}} would produce:
I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain. This applies worldwide. If this is not legally possible: PD Public domain false false |

Editing on the page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya
Hi! I have been working on page of Hemu for quite some time, infact two to three months. Recently I put all the citations on the page, but still the contents are challenged and page edited.About 12 hrs. ago one Salilb has removed some 500 bytes from the page citing vague reasons, like clean up etc. There are citations available and put on the page for whatever has been written on this site. I have put the exact words as mentioned in the books/references.At certain places some sentences seem out of place also, because they are from different books, disturbing the flow of write-up.But every effort is made to maintain accuracy.I feel accuracy should be more important to avoid any controversy. I don't mind removing any portion which is not true, but many facts have been tempered with ignoring the citations. This Page is only 60% prepared yet.More matter has to be added. Please see that only minor edits are permitted and not like Salilb has done. This is discouraging.

- Hello Sudhirbhargava, the citations which you have are from books which appears to have a glorifying and biased tone. This is ok for a biography but is unencyclopaedic and unsuitable for Misplaced Pages. Please read Neutral point of view/FAQ and also the Talk page of Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya for contesting my POV arguments. Edits should be made only when a neutral point is agreed upon. I also made some grammar and punctuation corrections, I guess you should be ok with those. Salilb (talk) 03:03, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
POVs on page Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya: Hi!I have replied to POV arguments. Thanks for grammar and punctuation corrections. Two deletions are acceptable.Page is yet to be completed. An early action shall be appreciated. - Hello Everyone :), While using Huggle (An Anti-Vandalism Tool), I came across your edit, and the reason that I reverted the changes that you have made is because you removed the {{POV-check}} template from the top of the article which is against Misplaced Pages Policy. That is the only reason that your edits were marked as vandalism. Seeing that this is a topic of discussion with many other users involved, I reccommend that you continue to talk everything out at the articles talk page and reach an agreement :). Although because you all seem to be dis-agreeing about the article you should follow Misplaced Pages's Dispute resolution process, if as a last resort after you have exhausted all of the possibilities for Dispute resolution, and if one of you wanted you could refer the case to the Mediation Committee so that a committee of un-biased editors could help you all reach a decision. Although the best advice that I have is to just follow WP:DR and try to work this out among yourselves. If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). MONITOR THEORY
I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF EDITING THAT WHEN YOU REVERTED IT. THE ARTICLE HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS, AMONG THEM THE FACT THAT IT IS WRONG AND UNREFERENCED AND REPEATS 5 OTHER ARTICLES. WHY NOT LET SOMEONE FINISH EDITING AND SEE WHAT THEY'VE DONE BEFORE YOU UNDO IT?!?!?! Lpjurca (talk) 20:03, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
NOT TO MENTION THAT I WAS ADDING MORE INFORMATION AND REFERENCES THAT THE ARTICLE NEEDED, WHICH IS WHAT WE'RE SUPPOSED TO DO. WHY SHOULD I WASTE MY TIME IF SOME CREEP LIKE YOU IS GOING TO COME AND CHANGE IT?!?
DO YOU EVEN KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT LINGUISTICS? BECAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU WOULD SEE THAT THIS ARTICLE NEEDS ALOT OF HELP.l —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lpjurca (talk • contribs) 20:07, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hello There Lpjurca, I am sorry that you are angry that I reverted your edits, but the reason that I reverted those edits is because for your last edit before I reverted you, you blanked to page which appeared to be obvious vandalism and as such I instructed Huggle to revert it and warn you. I apologize for any trouble that this has caused you; all the text changes that you made before you blanked the page are still visible in the page history if you wish to re-add the changes. Thanks, and All the Best :), --Mifter (talk) 20:09, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
The reason I blanked the page is because I'm trying to add the corollaries of the hypothesis as they are set forth by Krashen, and for some reason, when I save it, everything below that, including the criticism, references, and further reading disappear. I can find nothing in the code to cause this, so I decided to try again from the blank page. It was not vandalism. If you want to help me figure out WHY everything below the corollaries is disappearing so I can improve the article, then by all means, please help. But if you're just going to waste my time, then I'll take my knowledge and articles and editing skills elsewhere. Lpjurca (talk) 20:14, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Again, I have found exactly what you did wrong :) after you are done adding a reference you have to put the code </ref> after the end of the reference or otherwise the rest of the page will be counted as the ref and it will seem to disappear, I have just re-instated all of the changes that you have made, and after I am done typing this I will go remove the warning from your talk page. I apologize for this whole mis-understanding and I hope now that you know what caused the text to disappear that you can continue to help Misplaced Pages with you skill and knowledge in that subject area. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:21, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for your assistance in figuring out the problem. I feel that the improvements I have made to the article now will be incredibly helpful for anyone looking for more information about the Monitor Theory. I'm sorry I called you a creep. If you would like to look at the article and see what I have done, then feel free. If at this point, you still do not feel that my changes are worthwhile, then by all means, now that I am finished, feel free to make what changes you want. Lpjurca (talk) 21:00, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
I beg your pardon?
How on earth do you figure that this edit was vandalism? Before you reverted my edit and told me in not so many words that I was some kind of vandal scum who wasn't welcome on Misplaced Pages, did you bother taking a moment to check how long ago the third series of Tittybangbang finished? I'll give you a little hint: the answer's at the Tittybangbang article. Oh, and did you take just a moment or so to have a look at my recent edits and see whether or not they looked like the behaviour of a vandal? Obviously not. No, I tried to update an article to reflect the fact that Charlie Higson is no longer "currently starring" in a series which ended last year, and you tell me that my edit was "unconstructive".
Do you think that I'll ever bother editing Misplaced Pages and improving articles again? Of course I won't, because people like you who seem to think that they are the big I am go round erasing my valid efforts and leaving me nasty messages telling me to sod off. Nice. 86.167.87.40 (talk) 21:24, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Oh my God, you're not even looking at people's edits before reverting them, are you? What is all this about? Someone has removed a stupid bunch of nonsense from an article, which REALLY did not belong there. They've taken the time to make the article better, to improve it, to contribute something valid to Misplaced Pages. You've looked at it, thought "Hmm, another pesky anonymous editor" and you've just reverted their edit, reinserting a load of stupid nonsense into the article. YOU DID NOT EVEN LOOK AT THEIR EDIT BEFORE REVERTING IT. As with my edit, you didn't even bother taking a few moments to look at the edit, you just reverted it. Why are you doing this to people? Does it make you feel important?
- Please, I beg you - would you just take some time to look through all your rolling back, and see how many valid, useful contributions you're erasing in some effort to build up your edit count (or whatever it is you're doing)? And would you kindly reverse any of your rollbacks that were a little hasty? And make remove your nasty messages from the relevant talk pages in which you tell people like me and the Magaluf editor that their edits aren't constructive? Thanks in advance. 86.167.87.40 (talk) 21:36, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
Hi there, I reverted your edits because to me it appeared to be a test edit because if you look you also added the following text to the article
<ref>Insert non-formatted text here</ref>
And, for that reason, I reverted it as a test edit, unfortunately Huggle (An anti-vandal Program) uses the same warnings for all users so you got an anti vandal warning not a test edit notice. And because of that I apologize, and I will mention adding a "Good Faith" information template to the designers of Huggle so that in the future you won't get a vandal warning for a Good faith edit. About the second diff that you supplied, I reverted that because the user appeared to be removing a large section of an article so I reverted the edit and I do thank you for bringing that to my attention, because after looking at it actually was a bunch of garbage and deserved to be deleted, and as result I have removed the warning from the IP's talk page and the section of the article. And I assure I DO look at absolutely every rollback that I do before I do actually do the rollback, but, unfortunately, there are plenty of edits that at first look appear to be vandalism but in reality are good users trying to make the encyclopedia better. I apologize for all of this, unfortunately sometimes mistakes are made, and all I can do is apologize and fix the errors that I have made. Also, I have removed the warning template from your page, and replaced it with a Welcome to Misplaced Pages Message, Once Again I apologize for this it was an honest mistake and it was also one that I should have avoided. I would also like to thank you for brining all of this to my attention so that I could fix this, and in the future I will be more careful in reverting edits that could be vandalism but could also be legitimate edits. Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:56, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Law Enforcement Barnstar Proposal Poll
Thanks for the invite to vote on this, but I have had effectively no Internet access for over two weeks, and I see that it has WP:Snowballed to a close.
I must plead ignorance, being relatively new, so, sorry, what is a barnstar actually ?
Cheers. Peet Ern (talk) 01:48, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi There Pee Tern, you actually have a very good question. A barnstar on Misplaced Pages, is an award that is given to a specific editor to recognize a specific edit of particular merit that the user has made, some users chose to display them on their userpages, but this varies from editor to editor. Barnstars can be giving out to everyone by anyone, and their's a barnstar for pretty much any thing that you can think of :). More information can be found at WP:STAR. If you have any more questions at all feel free to ask :). Thanks, and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 20:52, 19 May 2008 (UTC)

RE: User creation rights
Hey Mifter,
I would be happy too assign you the rights, but to be honest I don't think you have spent quite enough time at WP:ACC yet. The first part of the criteria states that you must be familiar with the process and be active in creating accounts, and from your contributions I see you have only done about 8, all but one of them yesterday. In other words, you maxed out yesterday and promptly requested the ability to exceed the max. All I'm saying is I think you might want to give it a few more days. Tell you what, if you come back and ask me again when you have maxed out for 2-3 more days over this week, then it will show you aren't going to loose interest in the idea, and I'll be happy to grant you the right.
That fair? :) happy to help, as always. SGGH 08:37, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi SGGH :), I agree with your judgment and I was myself wondering wither or not to wait to until I had more experience with the WP:ACC process before asking you to grant me the rights, I do understand your concerns and I will be sure to leave you a message towards the end of the week concerning the rights. I would also like to thank you for your opinion about this matter, as you know I have only been here for a few months while you have been here a few years, and because of that I trust your and your judgment completely (Within reason :) ). You have had so much more experience that I have in so many fields I could fill a page full of them :). Once again Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 23:01, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for waiting, all sorted. Enjoy SGGH 09:06, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

I have removed the warning templates from your user talk page and added a Welcome to Misplaced Pages template. Once again, I would like to apologize for all of this. Hi there! After your blocking and allowing me edits, this page has gone massive deletions. Some 6250 bytes, say 25% of page has been deleted without assigning convincing reasons. As I told earlier 90% write up is by me on this page. I have put citations for 60% of the page and was in the process of putting citations for the rest, when these deletions took place. This is very disheartening, and I wonder how I complete this page now with this kind of attitude. Please advise. --117.198.129.251 (talk) 17:11, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:BlissLogo.gif)
Hi Mifter - I just received an "Orphaned non-free image" notice from you regarding a logo I uploaded to my userpage. Since this is my first Misplaced Pages article, I am creating it on my userpage, so the image i've uploaded is not currently connected to the page I will ultimately be posting (Blissworld, LLC). Is it possible to keep the uploaded logo on my userpage until I am ready to contribute the finalized page to Misplaced Pages? Thank you for your assistance! Anythingless (talk) 20:01, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, Anythingless. As long as you finish the article and put it into the mainspace before May 27th the Image will not be deleted, Just for future reference, Fair Use Images are generally not allowed outside the article namespace :), although as long as you finish the article soon and get the Image off your userpage, you should be fine, If you want, I could make you your own personal sandbox, this way you could have your own little page to use specifically for your articles under construction. If you want me to create a sandbox for you or have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:33, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the warm welcome (and I appreciate the cookies too - chocolate chip...my favorite)! I hope to have the page up by the 27th but would like to take you up on your offer to create a personal sandbox for me. That way I can, as you said, use that page for my 'under contruction' articles. I'm sure i'll have more questions for you in the future, thanks so much for reaching out and offering your assistance! Anythingless (talk) 15:00, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi again, I'm glad that you like the cookies :). I have just created your sandbox, and you can find it by clicking here. Also, I have just removed the tag from the Image, so as long as you get the article up to the mainspace before the 5th of June, it should be fine :). If you have any more questions feel free to ask, and I'll answer the best that I can :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 21:17, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Mifter! I moved the article from my talk page to the sandbox you created for me and am nearly finished with the article. I love if you could take a look today (if you have the time) and tell me what you think. I am open to your suggestions - especially since you are a veteran Wikipedian! Thanks so much for your help along the way! Anythingless (talk) 13:22, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

I really do appreciate you telling me this so that I can undo my edits and remove the warning from your talk page. Thank you for offering to help
Thank you.
Yes, I very much need your help.
I'll be co-coordinating a collaboration/competition starting July 15th, which hopefully gives enough time to prepare for it.
It'll be the biggest project I've ever co-coordinated on Misplaced Pages - bigger than the help system redesign, bigger than the WP:TOTD, and bigger even than the main page redesign. This goal of this project is the development of over 200 pages.
The competition will have at least 3 awards: a general award (a globe), a monthly award (a medal), and a world champion award (a trophy).
I've asked WBOSITG to help finish up the first of the 3 awards' images here: User talk:WBOSITG#World Traveller Award, and I've summarized everything done so far on that one.
The second award, will include an image of a medal - which is what I need your talents for. I haven't done anything on it at all, and was hoping I could leave the image wizardry up to you. What I need is a medal that hangs from a ribbon that "goes around the recipient's neck" (virtually, of course). It's the "Misplaced Pages World Development Award". It should look real (not like a cartoon), and should be geographically- and Misplaced Pages-themed. Perhaps you could emboss a world map on the medal. The medal should be off-angle a little, so you can see its thickness. Most importantly, the medal must be IMPRESSIVE-looking.
Please keep a flexible attitude, because design development could go any which way. I sometimes don't know what I want until I see it.
Thank you for volunteering, and I look forward to your first design round.
Oh yeah, it should be a fairly large image, to support detail. The final image will be shrunk down via a parameter in the image link syntax.

First Cut of AWC Medal Award
Hi there,
I have just gone and created the first version of the Award Centers New Award, and before I added the full ribbon, removed the background, and changed the layout of the medal so it on an angle and looks like it’s a thick gold medal. I thought I would show it to you first :). Also I have started on a ribbon alternative for the award, because some Editors chose to show ribbons to display there awards and barnstars instead of showing the actual award :). So without Further Ado here's the first version of the award NOTE: This is only the first draft, I still have to do a lot of editing on it before its ready to use :)
I am open to any feedback before I add the Full ribbon, change the backround, etc. :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 16:33, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
- You are definitely the right person for this - you have the skills I have been looking for. The medal I have in mind is more like a Gold Medal, and the ribbon I was talking about is the kind you wear around your neck. Here's an example of a medal with a neck ribbon:
- Also, the medal itself should be displayed at an angle (not as angled as in the picture above, but not straight on), so its thickness can be seen (like the edge of a big coin).
- Could the words "Misplaced Pages World Development Award" be engraved, embossed/minted on the medal?
- The medal must be impressive, so the more official-looking and regal the medal, the better. Gold seems appropriate for this.
- Dates aren't practical, because this medal will be given out monthly.
- I hope the above feedback helps.
Vandalism?

reverted addition to plot
re: http://en.wikipedia.org/The_Secret_of_NIMH, why did you revert the addition of plot info? without the addition, the plot summary picks up in the middle, and is less clear. seems to me that the addition was an improvement, but i wanted to hear your rational before doing anything.

Medal V2
What Do You Think of the New Version 2 Medal :)? I apologize for it taking so long with it :(, anyways; I wanted to show you the medal before I added the Ribbon to it, although I am having a bit of a hard time tilting the medal on its side to show how thick it is (I am not sure exactly how to render it on its side like you wanted). But anyways I would love to hear your opinion about Version 2.0 of the Award :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 18:57, 3 June 2008 (UTC)
- Nope, it's not what I'm looking for. It shouldn't include any element of the globe award in there. The awards are not supposed to match. What I need is an engraved gold medal. I provided the Jimbo medal as an example only. The medal I'm looking for is a gold medal with a world map engraved in it. The only words on the new medal should be "Misplaced Pages World Developer", engraved, wrapped, and centered along the inner bottom edge of the medal. Is all that something you can do? Standards
This user page is currently inactive and is retained for historical reference. It was last substantively updated 14 August 2008. If you want to revive discussion regarding the subject, you might try contacting the user in question or seeking broader input via a forum such as the village pump. It was last substantively updated 14 August 2008. |
My RFA standards are still being refined, but I rarely base my support on arbitrary cut-offs like number of edits, or length of time editing. More often I will attempt to determine the clue level of a candidate. If high levels of clue are present, they will earn my support, regardless of whether or not they have 5000 non-huggle edits and 6 months of regular activity. This is based on a fairly brief review of their contributions, moreso on their answers to the questions. I have an optional question that I often pose to candidates that helps with this.
Self-noms and the acceptance line
- Neglecting to follow the bolded instruction #6 to delete the acceptance line in the self-nomination instructions will cause me to register a neutral unless a preponderance of clue has already been detected.
- I do this because it is a fairly simple and easy instruction to follow. Not following it is (in my opinion) indicative of a deeper tendency to not thoroughly read and follow instructions generally. Adminship is no big deal, but applying for adminship is. The fact that a candidate hasn't fully versed themselves in the process of RFA prior to jumping in doesn't build confidence that they will accurately follow guidelines and policies in applying administrative actions.
- An example of how this could apply to a real-world admin situation: When blocking for an inappropriate username, it is customary to uncheck the "Prevent account creation" and "Autoblock any IP addresses used" boxes. However, an admin who doesn't thoroughly follow instructions might not do this and as such Misplaced Pages could lose an otherwise constructive contributor.
- One user has mentioned that leaving this line in could be justified by ignore all rules. Quite frankly, I disagree. There is no good reason to ignore this rule, and following it is painless. Attention to detail is a quality I value in an administrator.
- As I mentioned, leaving this line in isn't always a deal breaker and if the candidate's actions indicate to me that this oversight is an anomaly, I may change to, or otherwise support. Furthermore, if they remove the line using only a herring, I will most certainly lend my support, though I may ask that they first bring me a shrubbery.

- Thank you for your support
I would like to thank the community for placing their trust in me during my recent request for adminship, which passed 72 13 2 . Rest assured, I have read each comment thoroughly and will be addressing the various concerns raised as I step cautiously into my new role as janitor. In particular, I would like to thank Balloonman for putting so much time into reviewing my contributions and writing such a thoughtful nomination statement after knowing me for only a brief period of time (and for convincing me that I was ready to take up the mop now, rather than go through admin coaching).
To my fellow admins - please let me know right away if I ever take any mis-steps with my new tools. Should I make a mistake, and you reverse the action, I will not consider it to be wheel-warring (but please tell me so I can understand what I did wrong).
To everyone - please feel free to slap me around a bit if I ever lose sight of the core philosophy of Misplaced Pages as I understand it - the advancement of knowledge through the processes of mutual understanding and respect. As always, feel free to drop by my talk page if I can be of any assistance. =)
Sincerely,

Main page: User talk:Xenocidic/RFARE:RFA Nomination
Hello Mifter
First of all I would like to thank you very much for attempting to nominate me, and I am glad I have had such an affect on you like the one you stated. At the moment I am refining my edits so a coach would be happy to do exactly that with me, and hopefully one day I will be an Administrator but I need more time to refine my edits and generally build up a good rapport as the selection process is stringent. At the moment I am sadly going to decline because of the above and advice from two Admins I have gone to in search of coaching, but one day in the near-ish future I would love to be able to accept your nomination. Many thanks again. Yours, ] (] · ])☺ 14:27, 6 June 2008 (UTC)
AWB for editing
I noticed that you use AWB for editing an you say a few words about this tool tx Bodyarmor (talk) 11:59, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there :), I would love to help you with AWB, but your question was kind of vague, if you could re-state your question so that its a bit clearer, I would appreciate it :). Anyways, here’s the best answer to your question as I currently interpret it :). I think that AWB is a very useful tool that can be used for many practical tasks on Misplaced Pages such as fixing spelling errors, repairing bad wiki links and subseting templates. AWB is currently limited to editors with over 500 mainspace (Article) edits, the reason for this is because the tool has a huge potential for vandalism and the 500 edit rule helps to prevent vandal use of the tool. I hope that answered your question, and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 00:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks I did see the access controls on the AWB page and this makes a lot of sense. You have answered my question on how AWB is used. I will take a look at some more of the introductory material you note in your letter, some of this material I have seen and some I have not. Many thanks Bodyarmor (talk) 08:12, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi Can you please explain why you reverted my edit when I was making it correct so that it matches with The Laws of Australian Football....I have umpired for 5 years and have thorough understanding of the 50-metre penalty and I have read wrong information in the article 119.11.89.36 (talk) 13:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Just a heads up
I thought you might like to know that the Awards Center page has been deleted, along with its newsletter. :(
So, where do we go from here?
To new and even more interesting projects, of course!
As announced in the newsletter, I've been preparing to co-coordinate a large collaboration/competition called Around the World. It was going to be run at the Awards Center, but since that no longer exists, the collaboration will be hosted somewhere else.
Around the World will begin July 15th as planned - it's location will be announced soon.
It'll be a blast. In the competition, participants will be helping to develop over 200 pages (drafts, which will be moved to article space once they are ready), using advanced tools to edit every single one of them!
This is going to be interesting.
And the event shall have awards which are being created specifically for it as we speak!
If you would like me to keep you informed of this and other interesting collaborations I'll be working on and/or organizing in the future, please drop me a note on my talk page, and I'll be happy to keep you in the know.
I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
The Transhumanist 21:47, 26 June 2008 (UTC)
Re: June 2008
Please take a closer look at the edit I made to Hard Candy Promo Tour. The material I removed has little relevance in a section titled "Reviews and Reception ". I pared down the Rolling Stone quote to the part that actually constituted a critical appraisal of the performance. 86.1.249.35 (talk) 22:07, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for informing me of that mistake, after taking a better look I do see that the other information is useless and should be removed. I have removed the notice from your talk page and I apologize for my mistake, unfortunately I sometimes make mistakes when I am fighting vandalism and for that I apologize. Once again thanks for telling me about my mistake and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:11, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for volunteering
One of the things we're doing to prepare for the event is some rudimentary work on the page set itself - to give participants a better idea of what they will be helping to create.
On each of the country pages listed at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Lists of basic topics, there is a flag and a coat of arms image, next to the table of contents. Their heights are out of whack and they need to be matched up. Malinaccier is working from the beginning of the alphabet, and has gotten through the G's. I need you to start at the end of the alphabet and adjust the heights of the flags and coats of arms to match, until you meet him somewhere in the middle.
For example, adjust each pair that the heights don't match up, like this:
to match up like this:
They take fiddling with, but you'll get the hang of it fast.
Mal has a head start on you, so you better hurry. :)
The Transhumanist 05:44, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
- I did some spot checking, and it looks like the H's through the late S's haven't been done yet. I've done the I's. I've gone over the A's through G's, and fine tuned them (some were a couple pixels off). I'll check the T's through Z's. Please start at the H's, and I'll ask Julian to start at the other end. The Transhumanist 10:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Next task
At the top of the Geography section, each page says "x is: a ______". Almost all of them say "x is: a country". That was filled in by a template to save time when the pages were all created, and it's not true for all the pages. A few of these political entities aren't countries (such as dependencies, autonomous regions, etc.). Check each country and fix those. Also, countries made up of islands have their own article devoted to them, so they should be called "x is: an island country". Change those pages too.
Good luck.
Have fun.
The Transhumanist 20:59, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Hint: To save time see List of island countries, Dependent territory, etc. If you copy/paste these 2 pages to a sandbox, with some search/replace magic you can create links that go straight to the pages in the set you need to change. And you can use Linky on those links to open them all in separate tabs (in Firefox), and then cycle through the tabs rapidly by using Ctrl-W to close each tab when you are done with it (and the next tab will be instantly displayed before your eyes).
Juliancolton's task
Julian might need help on his task:
- To provide examples for the participants to see what the pages they will be working on are supposed to look like when they are completed, there are about 20 pages we're trying to "finish" before the big collaboration starts:
- List of basic Albania topics • List of basic Argentina topics • List of basic Australia topics • List of basic Canada topics • List of basic Ecuador topics • List of basic Egypt topics • List of basic France topics • List of basic Germany topics • List of basic Iceland topics • List of basic India topics • List of basic Indonesia topics • List of basic Iraq topics • List of basic Republic of Ireland topics • List of basic Italy topics • List of basic Isle of Man topics • List of basic Israel topics • List of basic Japan topics • List of basic Macau topics • List of basic Mexico topics • List of basic Russia topics • List of basic Taiwan topics • List of basic United Kingdom topics • List of basic United States topics
- What I need you to do is make sure the culture section of each of these pages has image support, and add as many images as comfortably fit in that section. See List of basic Japan topics for an example. The images you select for the pages should be mainstream and/or interesting. Dull and boring is not what we want. Eye-catching and educational are what we're after.
- Don't use copyrighted images. All the pics should be GFDL or public domain. You can find pics on relevant articles around Misplaced Pages, and on Misplaced Pages:Wikimedia Commons.
- I look forward to seeing your improvements to these pages.
- If you have any questions, please ask me on my talk page so the alert feature works. Thank you.
- Good luck.
- Have fun.
We're all working together to get this thing ready, so the various tasks don't "belong" to anybody per se, Julian just happens to be the one I posted the above task to. Feel free to jump in and help. He's got the right spirit, and that's exactly what he did on "your" task! ;)
The Transhumanist 21:08, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
What is Around the World?
It's a collaboration using advanced wiki-tools. It is sponsored jointly by WikiProject Lists of basic topics and WikiProject Geography.
Using these advanced tools, we are building a profile for every country of the world. These drafts are listed at Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Lists of basic topics.
These profiles summarize essential information on each country. They are "topic outlines", but at the same time they are so much more, because Misplaced Pages is a hypertextual environment. Most of the topics presented are linkified, which turns these pages into a sort of site map to material about each country on Misplaced Pages.
The profiles share a standard format. So rather than tediously working on a single country to complete it, each participant works on all 200+ political entities, completing a single data item or detail across all of the pages. For this they use advanced tools like WP:AWB, Linky, etc. It goes fast, and since others are doing this at the same time, it makes "the World" (the set of country profiles) feel like a beehive, and the participants are its bees. :) The energy is contagious.
And since you are moving from country to country, the tasks make it feel like you are traveling all around the world, and you get to learn a little about every country as you do so. This approach also allows for greater efficiency, because by the time you've done 30 or so of a particular item, you've figured out how to finish it faster and more effectively (such as where to find the data or how to make adjustments), and this specialization speeds up development - but more importantly it reduces errors.
The tasks are varied, which adds even more variety to the project. Some tasks are look-ups-and-fill-ins, some are copy and paste, some are image hunts, some are maintenance adjustments, some are link fixing, some are blue-linking (creating an underlying redirect so a link turns blue), some are fact checking, etc.
Standing by to help are co-coordinators, who can lend a helping hand to participants, provide instruction and tips on how to use the tools, and help them find what they are looking for. Co-coordinators also use advanced tools to inspect the work of participants, and touch it up as needed, or if a task was done wrong throughout, point this out to the participant so he or she can make the necessary corrections.
Co-coordinators are working on the set of pages right now, to familiarize themselves with "the World" so they can help more effectively by the time the main event starts. But there's still lots of preparation left to be done, and we are looking for editors experienced in advanced wikitools who would like to become co-coordinators.
The Transhumanist 23:26, 1 July 2008 (UTC)
Welcome aboard
You've been working on the set of pages as mentioned above. So guess what that makes you? Yep, you are a co-coordinator! ;) The Transhumanist 04:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
Problem with a bot removing coats of arms
While I was checking your work on matching up flag and coats of arms sizes on the country lists (thank you, by the way), I came across a problem that you should be aware of. A bot has been coming along and removing coats of arms images from pages in the set.
The bot has hit the following pages so far:
- Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Topical outlines/Draft/Topical outline of Tibet
- Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Topical outlines/Draft/Topical outline of Tokelau
- Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Lists of basic topics/Draft/List of basic Cocos (Keeling) Islands topics
I've written a message to the bot's talk page, informing the bot operator of the problem.
If you should run across any more images removed from the country pages, please contact the bot operator (check the history to see which bot did it), and contact me too, right away.
Thank you.
And keep up the good work.

Request further explenation
I see you are deleting my article because "it is very short and provides little or no context".
I am confused concerning the wiki publishing process. Is it the title or lack of content?
Maleitch (talk) 01:37, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, What "it is very short and provides little or no context" means is that the article lacks anything to tell exactly what what the subject of the article is (By that I mean the lack of content). Also, there is a page that gives information on how to write an article and what not to do when writing an article. If you have any further questions feel free to ask. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 01:44, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
deleted page
I was in the process of adding content to the page, when I noticed your deletion message. Creating a wiki page for the first time I was attempting to investigate/resolve whatever violation I had committed and lost my content in the process. Is it common for wiki admins to delete pages withing minutes of them being created?

As I said, the link I clicked on at the cited source only takes you to the main media page, which doesn't give any listing of programs. Perhaps you thought you had the link right but it redirects. Adoption
I would like that. I am mainly interested in translation. I speak several different languages and am fluent in German, Chinese, Russian, and several others. I have been translating German pages recently. I think I am going to stick with that as I have enjoyed it. If you could help me or give me any tips that would be greatly appreciated! Also, please take a look at the pages I have translated, and tell me what you think. If there is anything that I could improve on (which I am sure is a lot of areas), please tell me. I am open to any constructive criticism. I am having trouble creating my templates. For some reason they show up as a fricken link instead of the thing I want to show. That is the one problem I have run into so far, which seems minor compared to all of the problems I could be having =). Thank you again for stepping up and adopting me! I left a possible DYK for July 3, but no one has responded. Could that no one be you? Corn.u.co.pia ♥ Disc.us.sion 02:26, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, there are plenty of editors that work approving/rejecting all the DYK hooks that are submitted, generally, I just look for hooks that have been marked as OK and then add them to the next set of Hooks to go live on the main page. Also, I have just reviewed your hook and approved it, your hook should now appear in the DYK section of the main page within the next day or so, you will receive a notice once your hook is being displayed on the main page. - I've uploaded a new image with the blank space cropped off. And next time you upload C-uploaded copies, please make sure its name is identical with the original commons image. (No "...for DYK" please) We have to archive every update along with the image, and when C-uploaded copies get deleted we only have a red link unless it retains the original name. --BorgQueen (talk) 03:46, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, ok....... Let me take care of the image then. --BorgQueen (talk) 13:30, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Hello Sir
- How did you created that status signal?
- And for clean up petrol can I select law enforcement articles? Can you show me one demo of cleanup because for me all articles look perfect
- Can you help me with my userpage its total mess? Suyogaerospace 08:17, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Suyogaerospace, let me answer your questions it the order that you asked them :)
- First off, you need to put
importScript('User:Misza13/statusChanger.js');
into your monobook.js
Then you need to refresh you cache and then at the top of your screen next to your log out button you should see three new buttons. The buttons will read: in, busy, out, those are what you use to change your status. Then you need to go to Special:Mypage/StatusTemplate and add the code for the three indicators. If you want you can copy the code from my template found here. Then after that's set and saved you should be done, from then on all you need to do is click on of the buttons to indicate your status.
- Second, yes you can select law enforcement related article to cleanup :). I have found an example of a small cleanup that I requested a few months ago. If you look at these diffs, you can see that all the clean up was was to change a paragraph list to a billeted list using prose and to do some minor copy editing.
- I'd be more than happy to help you with your userpage, that may take some time though, I'll start thinking of a design for it but if there anything specific that you want or a user's who's userpage you want your modeled after tell me so that I can make the page the way that you want :).
If you have any questions feel free to ask me :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:13, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

- And abt cleaning petrol I am the one who creats the mess My Mumbai Police article was cleaned up by other people I think I will be having a tough time Suyogaerospace 14:48, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- First off, Clean up patrol is an optional course you don't have to do it and many users have done just fine and they have never cleaned up an article ever, second, could you be a bit more clear with this? :Hello sir its also displaying a icon showing DYK ans rollback rights. I dont know which code to delete?" I need to know what your working on (Although I have a hunch it might be a header for your userpage) so that I can tell you what code to put where. In other news I have finished a first draft of a userpage for you, you can see it at User:Mifter/Sandbox. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:54, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
You are great
- My user-page looks AWESOME but is has too less userboxes please add more userboxes.I liked the layout of my userpage just see that if you can make my userbox look like this user http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Sniperz11 (Victorian look is awesome how did you come to know that I like victorian era? by looking at my sign font??)
- Next to the status signal there are three more icons
- a blue coloured question mark icon her is the link http://en.wikipedia.org/User:Mifter/DYK
- a wikipedia logo stating that this user has rollback rights http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Rollback_feature
- http://en.wikipedia.org/Wikipedia:Rollback_feature Suyogaerospace 15:43, 7 July 2008 (UTC)
- Oh thats my userpage header your talking about, if you want one of those I can make one for you, but to update your status just click one of the links labeled: in, busy, or out next to the log out button on the top of the screen and then the script will automatically update your status template. Oh and your userpage is finished :) see User:Mifter/Sandbox to see it :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:51, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Mifter, I wanted to let you know you should use the good submissions for DYK that are older; not those on the current day, as they have probably not been vetted and others are ahead in line. Thanks for helping. BTW, I need to be credited for Indy Fire Department being on front page.--Bedford 23:38, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, about the DYK's I generally don't approve hooks, I simply find approved ones and then add them to the next update set, I won't use new approved hooks unless I absolutely have to because there are no other approved older hooks, also there are a few hooks that are older but have Image recommendations and I generally leave them so that I can place those in the header with there Images so because of that they might have to wait longer to be featured than plain text hooks but otherwise I always use the oldest approved hooks first and then work my way into the newer hooks as necessary :). Thank you very much! I noticed at RfPP that BorgQueen was taking a break, and looking at the history of T:DYK, I realised how much of a loss that would be!! So I decided to help out where I could, and updated the template from the next update after six hours etc. Unfortunately on my first day as an admin I messed it up, and didn't have the courage to even press "edit this page" until a few days ago! :) Thanks for the note, and happy to help. WWW.JBHS.ORG article
Not sure how to really improve this. It's just a description of the website and what people need to know about it for James Bowie High School in Austin Texas.Nonexistentera (talk) 17:21, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, unfortunately your article currently fails WP:N which means that your article might not be notible enough to be included here. In order to fix that you should take a look around the internet and try to find reliable third party sources that have a coverage of www.JBHS.org
According to WP:N
If a topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject, it is presumed to be notable.
- "Significant coverage" means that sources address the subject directly in detail, and no original research is needed to extract the content. Significant coverage is more than trivial but may be less than exclusive.
- "Reliable" means sources need editorial integrity to allow verifiable evaluation of notability, per the reliable source guideline. Sources may encompass published works in all forms and media. Availability of secondary sources covering the subject is a good test for notability.
- "Sources," defined on Misplaced Pages as secondary sources, provide the most objective evidence of notability. The number and nature of reliable sources needed varies depending on the depth of coverage and quality of the sources. Multiple sources are generally preferred.
- "Independent of the subject" excludes works produced by those affiliated with the subject including (but not limited to): self-publicity, advertising, self-published material by the subject, autobiographies, press releases, etc.
- "Presumed" means that substantive coverage in reliable sources establishes a presumption, not a guarantee, of notability. Editors may reach a consensus that although a topic meets this criterion, it is not suitable for inclusion. For example, it may violate what Misplaced Pages is not.
A topic for which this criterion is deemed to have been met by consensus, is usually worthy of notice, and satisfies one of the criteria for a stand-alone article in the encyclopedia. Verifiable facts and content not supported by multiple independent sources may be appropriate for inclusion within another article.
A possible solution would be to include the information about the website into your school's article (If your school doesn't currently have one Be Bold and write one!) and then Redirect your article into the section of your school's article that covers its website. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me :). Thanks and All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 17:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Re:Admin coaching
I'm sorry, but I don't think I'll be taking any more admin coachees in the near future. I wasn't as dedicated to admin coaching as I hoped to be, and I would be doing you a disservice if I took you under my wing. I'm sure there are many other administrators who would be willing to coach you. Best, Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 19:34, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Thank you for "Image suyogaerospace"
that thanks was meant for here I dont know how it went to wikimedia once again thanks Suyogaerospace 03:17, 10 July 2008 (UTC) What will happen if i am not able to tag and asset the articles before july?
- Is is legal to put this tag on my user page? ]
- For the Image, I uploaded it to Wikimedia Commons instead of Misplaced Pages because that is the Free Image Branch of Wikimedia, and for the Category, I would say that you shouldn't add yourself to that category because after looking in it, it seems to be a category for articles not for users. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:08, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- got you sir what about tags and assisments? all projects want their articles to be reviewed by end of july. I am incharge of total 220 articles i will be not able to do them by july it will take time will i get imposition for it? or will i be kick out of wikipedia? Suyogaerospace 14:20, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- No :), The directors of WP:MILHIST aren't that evil :P (Actually they aren't evil at all :P), but if you need help finishing your adopted range you can just contact me by or anyone else involved with Tag and Assess 2008 and ask them to help you finish your range. All the Best,--Mifter (talk) 14:23, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- NO WAY I AM GOING TO TAG MY RANGE MY SELF thanks fo the help. By the way how to delete an Image? i have uploded a wrong image
- what do you mean by “ Criticism is something you can avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, and being nothing "?? should we remain idel on wiki to avoid criticism? Suyogaerospace 05:42, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you have uploaded the wrong Image, then the only people who can delete it are administrators but if you want to have an Image removed, you can tag it with {{db-author}} and then a admin should delete it for you. And sorry about the new messages notice, it was a mistake with one of the tools that I used and I immediately reverted my changes so your Image won't be deleted but which ever image you want to have deleted just tag with {{db-author}}. Also, about my little quote at the top of the page, what it means is that the only way to avoid criticism is to do nothing and that means that criticism is something that should be learned from and not scorned because the only way to avoid it is to do nothing and if you do nothing then you will consequently be nothing (That's the best way that I can explain it). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:20, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- I think criticism helps to improve our self and criticism always should be taken in a positive mannerSuyogaerospace 09:12, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Dear Mifter,
Alwil software allows anybody to use their logo on a webpage as you can see here: http://www.avast.com/eng/logos.html
Thank you in advance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Omarmalali (talk • contribs) 09:45, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, although they allow anyone to use there logo on there websites, it still meets Misplaced Pages's Non-free logo criteria and as such must be licensed under Fair Use. If you have any other question feel free to ask me or to take them to Misplaced Pages:Media copyright questions. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:04, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Update
BTW, thanks for trying to help out with the update earlier today. The reason I reverted your changes is that I could have used those hooks myself, but I was working hard to try and created a balanced update without too many people hooks. What I should have done is put an inuse tag on the page so that people knew I was still working on it, but any time you have doubts, feel free to ask at my talk page. - As I said above the notice was an error with one of the tools that I use to fight vandalism and to mark pages for deletion. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 14:23, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Which tool r u using? I have one question what is AWB?? one user helped me with AWB to send message to my state's project memberSuyogaerospace 14:29, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- And how to use this talk notice? How to reply in your style? your style is Cool
- Oh, I was using Twinkle (The adoption lesson User:Mifter/Adoption/Vandalism 1.1 give some more info) and AWB is Auto Wiki Browser You have to have at least 500 mainspace edits to be approved to use it and it can be used to check spelling on articles, distribute notices, and all sorts of stuff, and I use the {{talkback}} template, for you it would look like this {{talkback|Suyogaerospace}}. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:11, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- I have checked awb they haven't mentioned any thing about 500 edits!
- Should I use twinkle now? or should i wait for my training to get overSuyogaerospace 09:04, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
MifterBot's welcome message
Would it be possible to have MifterBot subst the welcome message it gives before the notifications about images? –xenocidic (talk) 14:59, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- It should be able to all I'd have to do is change the template that it is using from {{welcome}} to {{subst:welcome}}, I'll go change it now and restart the bot with the new code installed. All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Bot
Hey, I got python programed and all. I logged in. Can you please give me the next steps for what to do for interwiki and something what Mifterbot currently does? Thanks for the help! « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 15:24, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, so now you need to go to "Start" then "Run" and type cmd.exe, then once that opens type chdir\"pywikipedia" (This only works if you have the pywikipedia directory right on your hard drive not on the desktop or in another folder.) Then type login.py and then when it prompts you type your bots password, then after that type hit enter and then type which python program you want to run (e.g. welcome.py (The user welcoming script that Mifterbot runs that on the Commons because they allow welcome bots there :)) and then the bot should start operating. If you have any more questions feel free to ask me :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 15:43, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. For finding if the image has a source (or not), what do you use? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 15:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Do you have any other python "scripts" that you use? What other tasks are available? Thanks, « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 22:28, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks. For finding if the image has a source (or not), what do you use? « Milk's Favorite Cøøkie 15:56, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, well, there are tons of scripts that are out there, some of them are "copyright.py" which is a script that does something like CorenSearchBot does and it checks the contents of new article against a Google, Yahoo, and MSN for copyvios and tags them accordingly, then theres "archivebot.py" which is a archive bot script (Written and published by Misza13) which well archives talk pages, there is "interwiki.py" which is used to add interwiki links to articles, and the list goes on. If you have any other questions about bots or python feel free to ask me :), (Oh, and Mifterbot runs a very heavily modified version of checkimages.py (only about 20% of the original code is still used), I re-wrote most of the code and added a regex to screen depreciated license tags like {{pd}} along with streamlining the code and some other major changes). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 22:47, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
A Driver for Vera
Hey, your bot had a problem with Image:A Driver for Vera.jpg. Could you please explain in human language what's wrong with it, cause I can't see what it is. Lampman (talk) 00:49, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there, I just took a look at your image and I realized that the reason that the bot kept tagging it no license is because it lacked a non-free license tag, I have just added on so from on the bot should ignore the template. For future reference all fair use images must be tagged with one of the tags listed at Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags/Non-free to state that the image is non free and used under fair use :). If you have any more questions feel free to ask :). All the Best, --Mifter (talk) 02:53, 12 July 2008 (UTC)
- I thought I had left that tag there, but somewhere along the way it must have disappeared. Anyway, thanks for your response! Lampman (talk) 02:59, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice on the photo on Milagro Vargas. As a new user, I must admit I am rather confused by the maze of image standards. So, I found this picture on Google Images (which means it's in the public domain?), and it's on the site americancomposers.org.
