Hi 3rdAlcove, your edit to restore the Greek name to Korçë was correct, but your reasoning is wrong. Misplaced Pages has strict rules on where and how place names in other languages can be mentioned. This policy is WP:NCGN and you should read it carefully. It says basically that non-English place names can be mentioned once in the lead section. This is what you have correctly restored. If anybody argues with you, remind them of this policy, and if you have any problems regarding this at any article, please feel free to drop me a note at my talk page and I will look into it for you. Happy editing :-) AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 23:44, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
- I know my friend, it's a hard place to edit. Lots of difficult people. But keep going, keep applying the policies, it'll be OK in the end. Let me know if there are any problems. AlasdairGreen27 (talk) 00:07, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
User notice: temporary block
You have been temporarily blocked from editing in accordance with Misplaced Pages's blocking policy for for violating 3RR on Cyrus the Great, edit warring on other articles, and posting incivil edit summaries. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make constructive contributions. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below.Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 01:36, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
This user is asking that their block be reviewed:
3rdAlcove (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
So, let's see. 3 reverts on Cyrus the Great which is not over 3RR (my first edit counting as a "revert" though I edited out another problematic section as well?). Removing comments such as "Gayreek" and "Stop acting like a real Greek!" directed to a third user by a disruptive vandal is also "vandalism" somehow.Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
- Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:
{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=So, let's see. 3 reverts on Cyrus the Great which is not over 3RR (my first edit counting as a "revert" though I edited out another problematic section as well?). Removing comments such as "Gayreek" and "Stop acting like a real Greek!" directed to a third user by a disruptive vandal is also "vandalism" somehow. |3 = ~~~~}}
If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following code, substituting {{subst:Decline reason here}}
with a specific rationale. Leaving the decline reason unchanged will result in display of a default reason, explaining why the request was declined.
{{unblock reviewed |1=So, let's see. 3 reverts on Cyrus the Great which is not over 3RR (my first edit counting as a "revert" though I edited out another problematic section as well?). Removing comments such as "Gayreek" and "Stop acting like a real Greek!" directed to a third user by a disruptive vandal is also "vandalism" somehow. |decline = {{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}
If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following, substituting Accept reason here
with your rationale:
{{unblock reviewed |1=So, let's see. 3 reverts on Cyrus the Great which is not over 3RR (my first edit counting as a "revert" though I edited out another problematic section as well?). Removing comments such as "Gayreek" and "Stop acting like a real Greek!" directed to a third user by a disruptive vandal is also "vandalism" somehow. |accept = accept reason here ~~~~}}
- What was the point of the unhelpful edit summaries here or here? I'm not arguing your reverts; I believe Asdreni's comments were attacks. However, your edit summaries did not indicate why the comments weren't appropriate. Instead of just reverting the user, you should have either contacted an administrator or explained to the user that his comments violated Misplaced Pages's no personal attacks policy. This is your first revert. Partial reverts can be counted as full reverts. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 01:57, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- Fair about the revert (I really should read the guidelines, I guess) but I don't think the particular "user" deserved any more civility. Constant vandalism + such talk page comments surely deserve no better. Since you happen to be here, I'd be glad if you could take a look into that, as well. Not having to constantly revert him will make everyone's job easier. 3rdAlcove (talk) 02:01, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
- I was originally looking at that user, but then I saw your name pop up on a few of the article he was edit warring on. I've now blocked him for 72 hours. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 02:04, 27 July 2008 (UTC)
