Indian intelligence has stated that the India Mujahideen are terror activists who have been banned in the country. They are believed to be a "shadow amalgam of the banned SIMI and Pakistan-based Lashker-e-Taiba." Two days after the 13 May 2008 Jaipur bombings, the Islamic extremist group sent an e-mail to Indian media in which they claimed responsibility for the attacks and said they would "demolish the faith (Hinduism)" of the "infidels of India".
