The Daylight Origins Society is a Catholic creationist organisation based in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1977 by John G. Campbell as the Counter Evolution Group. It was relaunched in 1991 under the present name.
The stated aims of the Daylight Origins Society are "to inform Catholics and others of the scientific evidence supporting Special Creation as opposed to Evolution, and that the true discoveries of Science are in conformity with Catholic doctrines."
The Society is currently chaired by Anthony Nevard; the Polish academic and member of the European Parliament Maciej Giertych is an honoury member of the Society. Both Nevard and Giertych are also on the Advisory Council of the Catholic Creationist group, the Kolbe Center for the Study of Creation. On October 11, 2006, Giertych introduced and moderated a pro-Creationist seminar held in Brussels for members of the European Parliament; The title of the presentation was "Teaching evolutionary theory in Europe. Is your child being indoctrinated in the classroom?" This seminar resulted in negative attention being drawn to the work of the Daylight Origins Society in the anti-creationist journal of the National Center for Science Education as well as in Nature, a weekly British science news magazine
Since 1991, the Society has issued a quarterly magazine titled Daylight, edited by Anthony Nevard . The magazine is circulated in many Anglophone nations, including the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Canada, The United States of America, Australia and New Zealand, as wel as in other countries, including France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, India, Brazil, Argentina, and the Philippines.
Writers whose works have appeared in Daylight magazine include both contemporary and historical Catholic authors, such as Professor Maciej Giertych, John G. Campbell, Wallace Johnson, G. K. Chesterton, Dr. Steven Austin, Fr. John Flanagan, Dr. Patrick Gill, Fr. David Becker, C. S. Lewis, Redmond O'Hanlon, and Elizabeth Thornton.
