An abomination

I don't know where to begin in listing all the things that are awful about this system. It is a calculated assault on the potential of golf in every country except the U.S.; it treats the Players Championship like a major, when there is no consent for that presumption in the rest of the world; the points allocation is ludicrous (only a 10% premium for majors!); the recalculating is complex and cynically computer modelled to create artificial suspense; it makes a total joke of the money list; it offers a so-called "golfer of the year title" that might go to a player who missed the cut in all four majors. In Australia we produce about four times as many top one hundred ranked golfers per capita as the U.S., but Tim Finchem would just love it if none of them ever played in Australia again. America just wants to take, take, take and give nothing back to the global game. The whole thing utterly stinks. ReeseM 03:51, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Fed Ex Cup Observations

Greetings ....

  • There are no conditions for winning the Fed Ex Cup Grand Prize of $10 million, save for two --
    • 1: Full-time membership on the PGA Tour
    • 2: Earning more Fed Ex Cup points then anyone else up through the Tour Championship

The Cup Chase might be a little more compelling if you had an unconditional $5 million prize, with conditions for doubling it to $10 million. And under such a scenario, you would not need a 4-event playoff.

  • The events for the FedEx Cup Playoffs will be the same ones each year. No other events will share in the Fed Ex Cup experience.

2008: Vijay Singh Almost Has it

Vijay Singh will claim the 2008 Fed Ex Cup championship, barring BOTH of the following --

A: Singh withdraws or gets disqualified from the Tour Championship
B: Camilo Villegas wins the Tour Championship

If you spot a news article confirming this (and you will), post it!

Thanx-A-Lot, Frank Fgf2007 (talk) 05:47, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

or B: Sergio Garcia wins the Tour Ch. Tewapack (talk) 16:27, 8 September 2008 (UTC)
