Top Design is an American reality television series that airs on the Bravo network which features aspiring interior designers to get cash and receive a spot in New York's Designer showcases. Its first season had received poor ratings; Bravo reported a second quarter earnings loss. Despite this, a second season of Top Design was made.
The first season premiered on January 31, 2007, after the season finale of Top Chef (season 2), occupying the latter's former 10 pm timeslot. Todd Oldham was the host, with Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell as judges. India Hicks took Oldham's spot as the host, and Oldham will mentor the designers for Season 2. The second season premiered 3 September 2008.
Season 1
Main article: Top Design (season 1)The first season of Top Design aired on January 31, 2007 after the finale of the second season of Top Chef. Todd Oldham hosted with Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler, and Margaret Russell as judges. Matt Lorenz was declared the winner of Season 1.
Season 2
Main Article: Top Design (season 2)
The second season of Top Design premiered on September 3, 2008. India Hicks took Todd Oldham's spot as the host, with Oldham returning as the designers' mentor throughout the series. Head judge Jonathan Adler, as well as Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell, return as the judges. 13 designers are competing this season.
Season two is produced by Magical Elves, the production company that created Project Runway and Top Chef, the shows on which Top Design's format is based.
