FTW (or 4TW) is an initialism meaning For The Win, or sometimes; For Teh Win. Both are commonly used by gamers, especially MMORPGs.
Much like w00t, it originated as a gaming term. It usually meant something that helped in the goal of winning, and therefore was "for the win". These days it is more broadly used as meaning, a good/beneficial thing.
Long before there was MMO's... Or an Internet, there were among bikers coined the frase F*ck The World. This is usually refered to as FTW. So then you see a 300lb gorilla that has a belt buckle or tattoo with FTW on it that does not meen that he is an EQII fan!
