"Bucky Done Gun" is the third single from M.I.A.'s critically acclaimed album ""Arular"". It is written by Maya Arulpragasam and Wesley Pentz, incorporating elements of "Theme From Rocky", composed by Carol Connors, Bill Conti and Ayn Robbins. The track's baile funk flavour is also heavily inspired by Dayse Tigrona's "Injecao".
The music video for “Bucky Done Gun" was directed by Anthony Mandler. It features Maya rapping aggressively against a desolate wasteland (a dystopia which seems to imply the aftermath of the recent Tsunami), erratically interspersed with scenes of her performing live in an underground nightclub, entirely filmed in an artsy, guerrilla style. The video is also marred with intriguing images of teenagers throwing grenades of smoking colour at buildings; Maya's live back up singer Ms Cherry provocatively grinding against a chain-linked fence and giggling children playing in downtrodden streets and damp landscapes.
