Buhoodle or Buhodle is used to be part of the Togdheer region of Somalia. The capital and main city in this region is Buuhoodle. The capital and main city in this region is Buuhoodle. Buuhoodle is the largest city in the Cayn region. It has population of over 100000.00 thousand. In addition, there are about 30000.00 people who come for shopping each day. It is located border between Ethiopia and Somalia. It is a commercial hub for goods that coming from Bosaaso, Garoowe, Las anod , Galcaio and Burco. All these goods go through main market in Buuhoodle before it reaches in Ethiopia. The city is rich with live stock. Each day about a 1000.00 goats and sheep are leaving from Buuhoodle to Bosasso and Berbera. The city has modern communication system such as cell phones, TV station, as well as internet services. Moreover, the city has one of the best hospitals in east Africa which is called Daryeel Hospital. People in Buuhodle are ethnically Dhulbahante Daarood, who is culturally associates with Isaaq. The dhulbahante tribes who reside Buuhoodle are Mainly Ahmed Graad, such as Reer Hager, Ali gari, Waise Adan, Samakaab Ahmed, Igal Naaleeye, Araale Mahad, and Farah Adan Buhood., Other tribes who also resides are Barkad, Khaalid, Yaxye, Mohamed Muuse, Hayaag, and other dhulbahte tribes. Buuhoodle is the heart of Somali history; it is the place that Darwiish war started in 1919. It is rich tradition city where people who born Buuhoodle believe that they are the once who fought and die for greater Somalia. They are very superior people who think themselves as warriors. Buuhoodle has never been controlled or capture by any enemy fighter, even British colony who occupies entire northern Somalia was not able to do that. Buuhoodle people are extremely proud, and always look for national interest rather then division. It is the home of the most respected individual in Somalia Sayid Mohamed Abdulle Xasan who was born Buuhoodle and latter fought with British during the war world II. It is also the home of the well respected Somali poets such as Ali dhuux, Aadan Carab, Ismaciil Mire, Samatar Baxnaan, Cumar Cigaal, Amed Dirir, Bidhiid, and Galoos they are all born Buuhoodle

The town and the area around it are disputed by the Puntland and Somaliland autonomous regions of Somalia.
