Shukria Barakzai born in 1972 in Kabul, Afghanistan, Shukria from is the founder of Aina-E-Zan (Women’s Mirror), a weekly newspaper based in Kabul launched in 2002. Her mission was to "improve the understanding and knowledge of Afghan women in society”. Went to Kabul university in 1990s half way between finishing geology, she had to break off her studies because of mounting violence between government and Mujahedin. She resumed her education in geology faculty at Kabul University, right after the Taleban were driven out of Kabul in late 2001. In October 2004 Afghan elections she was elected to be among 71 Afghan MP. In 2004 Shukria was presented by Worldpress.org as "International Editor of the Year". In December of 2005 Shukria Barakzai was named Women of the Year, by Woman's hour, BBC. Shukria Barakza can speak in Pashto, Dari and English.
