OCHO CINCO!

I entered in both entries before you removed them and made me realize why they shouldn't be there. While I do understand that they may be unreliable sources, I do feel that the fact, though it may be just a rumor, is major enough that it should be included somewhere, probably while being made clear that it is only a rumor. However, I'm not particularly feeling incredibly vehement in making sure that the rumor is mentioned, and I do not mind waiting until a source like ESPN or something can confirm its veracity. --Rebelkass (talk) 06:05, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Rollback Request for cojoco

Hi,

I notice that there have been several vandalism edits on the Henry Jenkins page from Special:Contributions/128.250.131.73 and Special:Contributions/18.239.7.71.

I'm still learning the ropes, but believe that having rollback would assist in removing these edits.

There have also been several other bad edits from this IP address.

Can you help by giving me rollback, or offer me some advice?

Hi there, thanks for contacting me.

After reviewing your contributions and your request, at this time I'm not inclined to grant rollback. Since you are still learning the ropes, I think it would be more to your benefit to have it once you have the ropes learned.

That being said, I'd like to point you over to Twinkle if you haven't looked into it already. It has a javascript rollback that mimics the official function, but it does not rollback on the server directly. There's much more leeway to learn vandalism fighting with that tool. You can install it into your monobook directly, or install it in the gadgets section under your preferences. Let me know if you need anything, and I'm willing to review rollback for you in a month or two once you have some practice. Happy editing. Keegan 19:32, 1 May 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. Hi, I just noticed these comments. I would say that if the article is reinstated in its previous form it should be immediately deleted again as being a spam page serving no purpose but to be a copy of marketing blurb. An article requires 3rd party reliable sources. SafeSquid certainly seems to be well known, so finding such sources and writing a proper article shouldn't be difficult. Yes, I realize the mistake that I did earlier, though I had referred to a few articles like Sonicwall and Websense. Will it be possible for someone to review the page I create on my sandbox, and comment on the acceptability of the content, before I can actually submit it this time? What naming convention would that be? in Misplaced Pages:Canadian Wikipedians' notice board/Style guide, geographical features (such as islands), use the bracket dab, while the comma convention is used for communities. --Qyd (talk) 14:12, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

TKE vandalism has resumed?

FYI: The persistent vandalism chronicled here, presumably the work of TKE fraternity members, has resumed at Cooper University Hospital, a popular target for this group. If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Misplaced Pages page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. RE: Blagojevich

Hey there. I noticed you added a new ITN item about him; I'd like to take it down, but I'm not one of them WP:BOLD zealots; I was just wondering if you're sure you'd like to skip the discussion phase, as an item about Blagojevich has been featured before, and people questioned the notability even then. On a related note, items in Portal:Current events are not removed once they are promoted to ITN. Current events are archived in the Events by month, such as January 2009, at the bottom of P:CE. So while that item is temporarily duplicated while it is on ITN, it remains an item that happened that day after ITN removal and in the monthly archives. If there's discussion that runs counter to this idea, please point me to it. Thank you.

(It also shouldn't be removed from WP:ITN/C either. The discussions are archived as a whole after seven days.)

I agree with the promotion of the event, by the way, though I understand Spencer's comment that the article may need to be more completely updated. TransUtopian (talk) 00:47, 30 January 2009 (UTC)

Hey folks, since there's two users in this talk I'll just thread this here. I promoted it to ITN on the reasoning that the removal of a state executive is, IMO, notable whether the subject himself is or not (though I'd figure it is inherent). Seemed obvious to me that this was more than Wikinews, which is why I skipped the discussion phase.

As to the portal, thanks for letting me know, I was not aware of the duplication being needed in the editing, I thought it was transcluded. Learn something new every day ;)

And lastly, I still think that it should be on the main page. While I can understand Spencer's logic in that it needs more information to make it encyclopedic and not just news, I personally don't think that anymore should or could be added to the article on the Blagojevich scandal at the time and it is a pretty descriptive article.
