The Hawiye tribe is the largest Somali clans. They live mostly in central and southern Somalia. It is largely agreed that all Somalia ncestors of the Hawiye clan. Some sources, including Human Rights Watch indicate that Hawiye have the largest business in Somalia,`Report of the Somalia Commission of Inquiry shows Darod as being the largest in Kenya and Ethiopiea.

Abdullahi Isse, the chairman of the Somali Youth League (which fought for Somalian Independence), and the first president of Somalia, Aden Abdullahi Osman, were both members of the Hawiye clan.
