Revision as of 20:36, 26 November 2005 by Third Rail (talk | contribs) (Additonal info)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)A scissors crossover (or double crossover or diamond crossover) is a term used for a railroad switch that allows trains to cross over to an adjacent parallel track. The crossed over switches look like an X. Many of these exist throughout the NYC Subway.
Usage
On the 2-track right of way railway, these switches are used to allow trains to turn around and go in the other direction. This is achieved by switching from the first track to the second track, then going back in the other direct on the second track.
