Arthur Kemp is a writer and political figure from South Africa, who currently works for the British National Party.
Biography
Arthur Kemp was born in 1962 in Rhodesia, spending his formative early political years in South Africa. Kemp worked as a journalist for the South African Conservative Party, which opposed the transition of that country to universal suffrage.
He was expelled from the South African Conservative Party in 1992 for opposing the party’s Apartheid policies, which he argued were wrong, unfeasible and immoral.
Clive Derby-Lewis and Janusz Walus were found guilty for their roles in the murder of Chris Hani in 1993, and both are serving life sentences. A list of names which Kemp had provided to Gaye Derby-Lewis (the third accused) was judged not to be not a ‘hit list’ as alleged, so Gaye Derby-Lewis was acquitted of all charges and released. Kemp himself was not charged. Kemp was fully investigated by the South African Police, who were monitored in their investigation by George Churchill-Coleman, the former head of Scotland Yard's anti-terrorist squad, and Mathew Phosa, prominent ANC lawyer.
Kemp has written and self-published several books. He is manager of Excalibur associated with the British National Party (BNP) and is in charge of maintaining the BNP website.
March of the Titans
One of Arthur Kemp's self-published books is entitled March of the Titans: a history of the White Race. The front page of its website version depicts representatives of the "white race" from Cro-Magnon Man, Spirit Cave mummy, Nefertiti, Octavian Augustus, Alexander Nevsky, Queen Elizabeth I, Napoleon Bonaparte, Thomas Jefferson and Adolf Hitler. The book describes the history of white people from their earliest phases through to the modern era, and makes predictions for the future "dissolution of contemporary Western civilization through breakdown in racial homogeneity".
The book claims Sparta was a racially mixed society composed of the usual three Aryan groups Alpine, Mediterranean and Nordic, and that the Romans kept German slaves. " Civilizations can and do fall, and the mightiest of buildings can and do crumble in a few short centuries. This happens when the people who originally made that civilization become a minority or are totally wiped out by either invaders, immigrants or are assimilated into new racial elements." In particular, Kemp claims that the second major population shift in Italian history was the " filling up of Rome with non-White races ". The first was the invasion of the Latini, and the third was the invasion of the Germanic Lombards "replenishing the Nordic racial stock in northern and central Italy." Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire makes no mention of any significant " non-white " presence in Rome nor does Gibbon mention any such supposed " non-white " presence as being a factor in Rome's downfall as claimed by Kemp.
Criticism
According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, Kemp is a white supremacist who has been active in providing some manner of support to the National Alliance in the United States, and asserts he left South Africa because he was seen to have betrayed those convicted in the murder trial of Walus and Derby-Lewis, by giving testimony against the Derby-Lewises. Kemp dismissed these allegations as "total rubbish" on his personal website, saying they didn't even get his year of birth correct.
