Iraqi Turkmen do not come from Turkmenistan! Why do you keep putting them into the Turkmen people artile? That article is for people from Turkmenistan... do you not understand this? Iraqi Turkmen are people from the Seljuk and Ottoman Empire... they did not migrate from Turkmenistan. Justinz84 (talk) 16:26, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
- They don't necessarily have to "come from Turkmenistan" (did the Yörük Türkmens in Anatolia come from Turkmenistan?) The Iraqi Turkmens are the descendants of the Seljuk Turkmens who conquered Iran, Iraq and Syria before conquering Anatolia in 1071. Pantepoptes (talk) 02:13, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- No they are the descendants of the Sljuks and the Ottomans. The majority migrated to Iraq during the ruling of the Ottomans. Why dont you read Iraqi Turkmen sources for yourself? Such as: http://www.kerkuk.net/kurumsal/?dil=2057&metin=20 and http://www.kirkuk.us/index.php?action=Definition%20of%20the%20Turkmen Justinz84 (talk) 12:49, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
- The Turkmens were in Kirkuk long before the Ottoman period (during the Seljuk period and also during the Crusades, there were Turkmens in Kirkuk) Pantepoptes (talk) 12:55, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
