Aang is an Airbender and the Avatar, whose job is to keep the four nations at harmony. Technically, he is 112 years old, but he looks, sounds, and acts like a twelve year old because he was frozen in cryogenic sleep inside an iceberg for a hundred years. As the Avatar, he is trying to end the war that has been going on since he disappeared as well as trying to learn all the four elements to defeat Fire Lord Ozai. Aang has to defeat him before the end of summer because a comet will come that will make the Firebenders practically invincible. With the help of his friends, Sokka and Katara, and the Avatar spirit that lives inside him, he will try to defeat the Fire Nation before it is too late.
During the Siege of The North episodes, Aang learned waterbending from Pakku, the former fiancé of Katara's grandmother. When the Yin spirit was destroyed by Admiral Zhao, Aang tried to stop the moon from disappearing and the Fire Nation by combining with the Yang spirit and his Avatar spirit to form a giant water made animal, got the Fire Nation out of the North Pole, and killed Admiral Zhao. After the attack on the North Pole, Aang's waterbending teaching was assigned to Katara. Aang told Zuko that he had a friend in the fire nation name of Kuzo, and asked if he could of been friends with him if they both lived together 100 years ago. Zuko, still determined, shot a fire bolt at Aang. It is rumored that Aang and Zuko may ally together later in the series.
