Outflow boundary GA limbo

I seem to have gotten myself into a pickle, for all the right reasons. Someone who made one edit to the outflow boundary article submitted the article for GAN in June. I started a review of the article, mentioning that I could not possibly be the reviewer of the article since I did most of the edits. Then, the person who submitted it for GAN didn't do the requested work, so I compounded the problem by improving its look, content, etcetera. Now the GA template on the page implies I'm the primary reviewer, and I think it's keeping potential reviewers at bay. What can be done here? It's been listed at GA for 9 weeks now, which even for me, is an extraordinarily long time. Thegreatdr (talk) 00:35, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

I responded to your comment on the GA page. Thegreatdr (talk) 16:59, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Please save my nether region

Hi, about a year ago you did an Afd for me since I did not know how. I have just tried doing one all on my own (speedy aren't I?).

The page was "List of Riots" and while I thought I followed the direction on the Wiki help exactly (even used written notes) something didn't come out right.

The AfD tag never appeared on the page top and while I ended up creating the AfD discussion page, and it show on the page history, somehow the AfD has not shown in the log of AfD on the official page.

Would greatly appreciate if you could fix this or (I'm willing to do the work) tell me how I failed when I thought I was so careful.

Thank you,

aaronsmith Aaaronsmith (talk) 01:03, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Fireworks

I saw your msg on wade's page and thought of leaving my two cents.

  • For many fireworks in a singe picture, use a wide angle lens, around 17mm would be good.
  • Use long exposures. Usually around 1s-onwards
  • Use a tripod or beanbag for stability.
  • Just take shots before the fireworks start to capture the whole motion

My new page not appearing on Wiki search

Hi Julian

I created the page Outlet Property Services over a week ago and it's still not showing when I do a search. It's still in my contributions and each time I have done an edit, I saved the page.

Is there a problem or am I not doing something right?

I look forward to your reply.

Seems you created the page in your userspace (User:Markgraindorge/Outlet Property Services). Only pages in the mainspace show up in default search results, which is why you haven't been able to find it. Once you're done with that article you can use the 'move page' function to move it to the article space. –Juliancolton |  14:12, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

User:Stilltim

Hey,

I was just looking for your opinion on your granting of Autoreviewer access to Stilltim even though he has a long history of creating POV forks. This issue went to an RFC and he seems to have been getting better, but I was still curious as to how you felt about that. Thanks!--Gordonrox24 |  02:18, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

Hmm, I was honestly unaware that any such issues existed. I saw that the user had created hundreds of seemingly valid articles, but please do link me to the RfC and other relevant discussion. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. –Juliancolton |  02:27, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
here is the RFC. If you look at his talk page he has not archived it and you can see all of the AFD discussions that resulted from his creations. I am not sure how much relevance this has on his recent work though. Thanks--Gordonrox24 |  02:58, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks Julian. I do think it will benefit the project having WP:NP keep his pages monitored. He does seem to be doing great work now though.--Gordonrox24 |  17:45, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Stilltim autoreviewer

I have concerns about your granting of autoreviewer to User:Stilltim. He has been the subject of an RFC/U about creating numerous excessive articles contrary to consensus in the past. Even his recent Deleware articles are massive copy/paste jobs that mostly duplicate each other. That he's filling up the new pages once again is an alarm sounding, we shouldn't just cancel the alarm without investigating whether there is a problem. Gigs (talk) 15:39, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

I've removed the right for now, since a few others have raised similar concerns. I apologize for any inconvenience I've caused; I was honestly unaware of the controversy surrounding this user's articles when I enabled autoreviewer on their account. –Juliancolton |  15:45, 3 September 2009 (UTC)

Help

I see you quickly reverted my talk page, and fair enough really. As you directed me too: "this does not give you an excuse to respond in kind". I do not like the user Bidgee (talk) page or discussion page. He links to my edits and claims "personal attacks and use there point of view, and editwar". This thread could go on and on with no resolution. YM will get the shock of his life when he comes on tomorrow. Aaroncrick (talk) 15:26, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Indeed. At the moment it's looking like it'll be closed as "no consensus" or "keep". I think the nominator's arguments would have been more convincing if he had nominated each article individually, since there is really no precedent to batch-delete 20 GAs and FAs. Oh well, I'll keep an eye on it to see how it turns out. –Juliancolton |  15:36, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Agreed. Really, not to get all Machievellian, but if you want to put a hit out on an article, you're better off doing test cases, singling out the weakest ones, and then going after the others later per a precedent. Batch article deletions rarely end in a delete, in only because an admin doesn't want to sift through the discussion that way. I have to say though reading through those articles that it's clear gamecruft isn't endemic only to video games... --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs 15:41, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I'd be more sympathetic if they were nominated before the became GA/FA's. Aaroncrick (talk) 15:46, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
But GA/FA criteria has nothing to do with notability; it's actually a fairly common occurrence that articles get deleted after getting GA/FA. --Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs 15:52, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
It has something to do with compassion. YellowMonkey has spent a hell of a lot of time writing those articles. They may not all meet the inclusion criteria (that's still being hashed out), but remember that we are dealing with people here, not machines.
Can you back up your assertion that it's a "fairly common occurrence" for FAs and GAs to be deleted? Nev1 (talk) 15:55, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I don't know about it being a "common" occurrence, but it has happened. However, more often than not an FA at AfD will be speedily kept. –Juliancolton |  15:56, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm aware it's happened (although I couldn't name any off the top of my head), but to state it's common is an interesting claim, one I would like to see substantiated. Nev1 (talk) 15:58, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Speedy declined --> AfD?_AfD?-2009-09-06T15:45:00.000Z">

"Typically when I decline a speedy deletion, I ship the article off to a procedural AfD nom." Why? There are all sorts of bad reasons for speedy deletion nominations, and it would surely be better to do a cursory search for sources, some adding of tags and adding WikiProjects to the talk page than sending all the articles to AfD. As far as I'm concerned a "procedural nomination" isn't a valid one. If you can't come up with a reason for deletion that accords with policy, I think the correct response is a speedy close. Fences&Windows 15:45, 6 September 2009 (UTC)_AfD?"> _AfD?">

Most declined CSDs are borderline in nature, so it's reasonable to request additional feedback via AfD. Such practice is standard as far as I'm aware. –Juliancolton |  15:51, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi there – I deleted it because it seemed to fit the criteria of "blatant spam" (it had an overly promotional tone, lacked substantial encyclopedic content). If you feel that you could bring it up to standard, I'd be happy to restore the deleted content into your userspace. Cheers, –Juliancolton |  18:30, 6 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Julian, if you read the wiki page about Kennel, there is really nothing encyclopedic on it either, but it's there. I appreciate your reply and I would like to know how to make a better page on this Dog Daycare.

Weather articles

Hi Julian, it seems you are interested in articles related to weather. A lot of Misplaced Pages's articles on basic meteorological topics are not very good. I've been gradually working to remove some of the blatant errors and spruce up the writing. I don't know whether you have any formal training but if you'd like to pitch in that would be great. 02:29, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the note. Yes, meteorology articles in general could use some work (as could most Misplaced Pages articles!). I've noticed that articles on specific events (eg. Hurricane Fabian, Typhoon Paka, 1994 Christmas nor'easter) tend to be of higher quality than the more broad topics (Climate, Severe weather, etc). I'm more experienced with the former group, but I'd be happy to help. The problem is that meteorology is inevitably a boring topic, so it's hard to write "brilliant" prose on the subject. Still, factual errors inaccuracies to be dealt with. You might want to post at WT:METEO specifying which articles you find need the most work, as I know there are actually quite a few users there who can turn crap to excellence in a matter of hours. Good luck, and thanks for your efforts so far. Regards, –Juliancolton |  02:41, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

Sysop aSsistance Solicited

Julian, got a situation I've not faced before that I suspect an admin can handle.

I reverted some page blanking by an anon of someone's user page. Then the anon comes back and posts on my user page that she is the user, but that she's lost control of the account, and wants her personal info out of public view. First problem is determining if she is the actual user. Perhaps you can verify that, but of course I cannot. But I'm inclined to believe her. Another issue is this: The actual user posted that she's 15 years old, and included a photo of herself and much personal info. I'm willing to take a chance that this anon is pulling our leg just to be on the safe side and permanently delete the page. I explained to her that, even if it's blanked, anyone can restore it at will, unless it's permanently blanked.

So I'll leave it to you. The anon's talk page is User talk:72.222.147.24, and the User page in question is User:Missalicia1994. Let me know if I've been unclear about anything. Unschool 03:10, 9 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm preparing to do a FAC run for Fairbanks, Alaska, and the city went through a lot of boom-and-bust periods between censuses. I have reliable population figures for some periods between censuses, but I haven't found a template that works well. Can you help? Thanks. JKBrooks85 (talk) 08:08, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Heh, I just cleaned up a few of the links in the aforementioned page; I really know very little about templates themselves. :) That said, I'm not entirely sure, but might have something close to what you're looking for. Cheers, –Juliancolton |  17:44, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

Move page to mainspace

Julian,

I have taken your suggestions on my page and have updated it to reflect them. I think it's ready to be moved to the world wide wikipedia mainspace. Could you take one more glance to see if you have any concerns and if not move it or tell me how? I don't really understand how to take the article and put it into the real world without copying and pasting all the code into a new article box... any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thank you for all your help on this page! Rpelton (talk) 19:34, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

North Fringe of Bristol

I moved North Fringe back to North Fringe of Bristol, a title which gives some necessary geographical context. Although the term "North Fringe" is in local use, that is only because the city of Bristol (of which it is a "fringe") is taken as understood. I'll be away for a few days so will return to this next week. Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:25, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

But we don't have another article titled "North Fringe", so the disambiguation is unnecessary. –Juliancolton |  20:26, 10 September 2009 (UTC)
True, but North Fringe of Bristol is a clearer title anyway, and preferable to North Fringe (Bristol) which I admit may well have been contrary to a naming guideline somewhere (though I can't put my finger on it right now). Ghmyrtle (talk) 20:38, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

The Maiden City sockpuppets

Could you please reblock Fenian Hunter (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) and Papist Hunter (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) so they cannot create accounts, as he is using the first account to create more sockpuppet (such as Maiden City (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)) and will no doubt move on to the second account as well. Thank you. O Fenian (talk) 23:01, 10 September 2009 (UTC)

SWGIT

Hi Juliancolton. I would like you to reconsider the deletion of the SWGIT article. It should be obvious from the article that there is no personal/business gain as this is not a company, but rather a law enforcement best standards scientific working group set up by the FBI. No products/services are offered, no products/services are endorsed. Also, several other SWG groups have Wiki pages.

Seems we have run into problem after problem trying to put SWGIT on Wiki, most likely due to none of the members being fluent in Wikiese. Could you help us edit the article to make it conform more to Wiki standards? Swgit (talk) 11:52, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I deleted the article in accordance with the proposed deletion policy, which states that if a nominated article goes uncontested for a week, it may be speedily deleted. The original nominator cited concerns that the article was promotional in nature; therefore, it will likely take significant work to bring the article up to standard. I'd be happy to restore the deleted content into your userspace, to allow for you to address any issues in your own time; it could then be moved to the mainspace when ready. Would this be satisfactory?
On a side note, you seem to use terms such as "we" and us". Please be aware that role accounts for businesses and companies are not allowed, and may be blocked, as in general one account should be used by just one person.
Regards, –Juliancolton |  13:32, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

I would very much appreciate it if you would restore the article to my userspace. Thank You.Swgit (talk) 14:46, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

I've got to say, I'm surprised to see you buckle to off-site canvassing. What sort of time period were you thinking of before allowing a renom ? Because I'd send it to AFD right now. --Cameron Scott (talk) 10:00, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Once a discussion is polluted by chronic canvassing/sockpuppetry, it simply becomes impossible to form a fair and meaningful consensus. Not "buckling" by any means. I'd say wait about a week or so; any sooner and it'll likely suffer the same issues. Cheers. –Juliancolton |  13:25, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

The mop at the Commons

JC, I was wondering, since you have the mop over at the Commons what you participated in before being considered for the mop? I am looking to expand my usefulness and know that I need to start working at the Commons more often first off, but what types of non-Admin tasks should I look at working on more to both help out and possibly make myself look more useful. Thanks --Admrboltz (talk) 14:24, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

For the most part, I did a bunch of categorization and general cleanup, and in the weeks prior to my RfA I did some flickr reviewing and participated in deletion requests. Commons also looks for some degree of interaction with the community, so a few posts at AN, VP, etc. would definitely help. You might also want to patrol NewFiles from time to time to check for potential copyvios and other similar issues. It's great that you're considering becoming more active at Commons – we need all the help we can get at the moment! Hope this helps, –Juliancolton |  15:17, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Yeah, I figured about AN and VP - and I have asked for the Flickr reviewer tag so I can help out with those as well. New files is tough sometime, so many look like professional photos, but could very well be regular images... --Admrboltz (talk) 17:03, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Hardy Boys

Dear JC, I have been deleteing those sections of the Hardy Boys page, because the books are one of my favorite series, and I don't like the the sections discussing homosexuality and homoromance. I find it insulting since they are well-written and popular book characters, and they are not gay or show interest in their friends or each other. They just work as a team and help each other out. They are supposecd to be only about a year apart, so they get along well, and fight seldomly. I myself am a year older than my younger brother and we get along and are close and rarely fight. He is one of my best friends. So just to say JC, that I don't appriciate those crude oppinions on the Hardy Brother characters. So I would be greatly enjoy if you would let me remove those section for the sake of myself and other avid Hardy Boys readers looking for info on the book series. Thank you!

Bleed for Me requested move

Why did you remove my requested move (Bleed for Me (Dead Kennedys song)Bleed for Me) saying it should be discussed? I don't see why it's controversial, there's only two pages so a disambiguation page is clearly unnecessary, and just looking at the page contents (Bleed for Me (Dead Kennedys song) vs Bleed for Me (Black Label Society song)) makes it rather obvious which one is more deserving of the non-dab page. -Joltman (talk) 23:57, 13 September 2009 (UTC)

Uncontroversial requests are completed only if they are indisputably minor and uncontroversial; my experience at requested moves suggests some might object to such a move. –Juliancolton |  00:00, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Wanted you to know...

Hi, Julian. I am going to remove the autoreviewer right to User:Dr. Szląchski which you granted on Aug 29. Besides being under the 75 article minimum, all of the articles were copy-pastes. Although the majority were public domain, there has been some past history of copyright violation. I'm not comfortable with this user having autoreviewer yet. Let me know if you disagree. Cheers. — CactusWriter | 07:56, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

That's fine. I thought the 75-article minimum was more of a recommendation than a strict rule, but after reviewing some of their articles more closely, I agree with you. –Juliancolton |  13:43, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Deleted article

I was disappointed to find "Triple Seven" article deleted. I wanted to confirm that, indeed, there is some special significance in the "lucky 777" combination in gaming. I've found plenty of confirmations, including this DELTED article. Is there any way to see the deleted article? I'm interested in the history - why 777 has some special "lucky" meaning? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.98.166.154 (talk) 10:52, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

It was deleted in accordance with the proposed deletion policy; basically, if a nominated article goes uncontested for seven days, it may be deleted at any time. In this case, the original nominator cited notability concerns, which, upon my own uninvolved review, I tend to agree with. If you create an account, I can move a copy of the deleted content into your userspace to allow for you to bring it up to standard in your own time. Would that be satisfactory? –Juliancolton |  13:49, 14 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey, welcome back! My summer was fine, if a bit too fast...
I think our highest priority right now is to create a handful of shining examples of completed and matured outlines to use as examples when demonstrating their purpose to the skeptical folks. Ideally these should contain no redlinks, be completely filled-in, and follow major content policies. Any thoughts? –Juliancolton |  02:01, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Numbering on JMA Tropical Depressions

Some users has been insisting of adding designations to JMA Tropical Depressions but they can't provide any evidence that the Tropical Depressions are designated as such by an official agency. For example, nowhere outside Misplaced Pages indicates that Auring is designated as Tropical Depression 01. Even worse, these designations are largely different from those can be found in SAREP issued by JMA(RSMC Tokyo). This creates a very confusing situation. If there is no official designation associated to a particular system, then leave it as such. This has been the case for extratropical lows, thunderstorm, tornado and many other severe weather events. You won't have extratropical low 1, extratropical low 2, extratropical low 3, etc. (unless a certain official agency decides to do so in the future) Tropical Depression is nothing different from other forms of severe weather events. If there is an official designation, use it. If there is not and the Tropical Depression has sufficient impact to warrant its own article, then use relevant descriptions such as place, month, festival, year, etc. whichever appropriate. This is the encyclopediac way to refer to them. Please join the discussion in .Typhoon2009 (talk) 14:16, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with the West Pacific naming conventions. However, while your argument sounds valid, continuously edit warring is not acceptable. Please try to form a consensus at the article's talk page before implementing any major changes. Thank you. –Juliancolton |  16:25, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
OK. Now, I'll just have the dubious tags there so that more users notice the dispute, can join the discussion and hopefully form a consensus.Typhoon2009 (talk) 01:06, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Crop circle protection

Hello. It appears that the sudden avalanche of vandalism on the Crop circle article is due to the Misplaced Pages article gaining a higher profile via Google's use of crop circles in today's logo . Since these click-able, search-able logos do not typically last longer than a day, the page protection probably will not be needed after about 24 hours. You might want to reduce the protection length, but that is entirely up to you. Also, I removed the "small" parameter from the template so that all the extra visitors explicitly know why they cannot edit this article on "the encyclopedia that anyone can edit" plus then they can see that the protection is only temporary. If you feel that my action here was improper, please feel free to revert it at your discretion. Thanks, — Kralizec! (talk) 14:21, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I took that into consideration, but I figured it's best to leave it protected for a few more days to avoid any residual vandalism. I don't object to you or another admin removing the protection before it expires, however, if they feel it's necessary. Re. the template, I generally use the |small= for reasons outlined in this essay, but again, no big deal. Cheers, –Juliancolton |  16:33, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

You might want to keep an eye on him, I've had two cases in the last two days of him reverting perfectly valid geotags with no explanation in the edit summary. Turns out "he thought they were gibberish" - I guess this is more likely to be a problem with a non-native speaker of English, it's harder for him to distinguish genuine gibberish from tech-speak gibberish. All resolved amicably enough now, but I thought I'd mention it; I don't know if there's been other examples that the "victim" hasn't noticed. 82.3.241.225 (talk) 16:18, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. You're right, that is worth keeping an eye on. The good news is that he technically didn't use rollback for the reverts in question, but I'll leave them a note if I see any more questionable actions. Regards, –Juliancolton |  16:20, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Can you review Star Trek (film)

This morning there was a category added to this page that classified it as a reboot film. I searched Star Trek reboot and found several reliable sources that classify the movie as such. I sourced four of them OC Weekly, Mtv, HighDef digest and The Examiner. User:Darrenhusted insists that because the director isn't quoted as saying it's a reboot we can't include it. If you look at the sources in the page history even the titles themselves classify the movie as a reboot. I am loathe to violate 3rr and the other editor is very close to. Can you step in and review before either of us gets blocked for something small? Hell In A Bucket (talk) 16:24, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

I have to leave in around ten minutes for work. If you have questions I'll answer them during my break or lunch, but didn't want you to think I ran out on this. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 16:35, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

Follow-up to mentor request on 7 September

Did you have a chance to look at the review of 2009 Giro d'Italia for GA? The user told me earlier today (in US Eastern Daylight Time) that he had been mugged and his computer had been stolen the day after the seven day grace period expired to correct the article upon my suggestions. I failed this article and the two others because the GA Procedures stated this. The user (Nosleep) as I expected was upset at my decision, but I was not responsible for him getting mugged and having his computer stolen. All I was doing was following the WP:GAN rules set when I put those articles on hold. Your thoughts on this. Chris (talk) 01:22, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Just a comment: that "word" is a favorite of ScienceGolfFanatic; I suspect he's escaped his rangeblock by editing from school. Since he also did some other vandalism yesterday (see here) it might be worth looking into yet another SPI on ScienceGolfFan (unless the school can be blocked by just blocking the account). -- Soap /Contributions 01:25, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Possible mistake

Was this a mistake? Debresser (talk) 12:36, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Nope. I was removing links to userspace in a few hundred articles. It looks like AWB botched the edit summary, but other than that the edit seems fine. Thanks for the note. –Juliancolton |  15:17, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
You removed the forward slash in the second ref tag (</ref> -> <ref>), making the page look like this. Debresser reverted - Kingpin (talk) 15:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Julian

The article I created a few weeks ago still is not showing. What am I doing wrong?!

My messages do not sem to reach you either so am trying again :-)

I look forward to your reply.

MarkG 14:59, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I actually responded to your initial query, but it seems you missed it. I think the issue is that you created your article in your user-space rather than the article-space; only pages in the later namespace appear in Special:Search. Once it gets moved into the article-space, it should be visible immediately. Regards, –Juliancolton |  15:24, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi Julian

Sorry I missed your reply! And I have failed the move... I opened the page in user, clicked the 'move' tab and renamed the article Article:Outlet Property Services' but it remains in my contributions. So asking for your help again so that I can do this. Sorry for being so useless!

Request

I saw you protected the Office Open XML article. I would like to have some kind of mediation or arbitration the the content and edits in the article. Would you be inclined to mediate on the content in the article ? hAl (talk) 17:28, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I'm afraid I'm going to have to respectfully decline; I know little of the subject, and some might accuse me of a having a COI since I protected the page. I'll be happy to weigh in on any discussions if necessary, however. –Juliancolton |  17:40, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
Too bad. It seems that when the word Microsoft attaches to an article a whole bunch of people gets very anxious to apply different standards to reality. I do hope someone with an objective view from the outside can help. If you were to contribute to the discusions that might definitly help. hAl (talk) 17:58, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I don't see what full protection is going to resolve. Four or five editors have repeatedly explained to HAl (talk · contribs) what the problem with his edits is, and yet he continues to revert them back in. In a week's time there's still going to be the same consensus that the edits he's making are unacceptable. Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 18:26, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

If edit warring resumes after the protection expires, then blocks may be in order. Until then protection seems like the most appropriate course of action. –Juliancolton |  18:27, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Shouldn't the deleted article for Dauros at least redirect to Transformers: Super-God Masterforce ? Mathewignash (talk) 20:18, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps, but that needs to be worked out by editors familiar with the topic. –Juliancolton |  20:19, 16 September 2009 (UTC)

I am familiar with the topic, that's the anime Dauros is a character from. If you want to delete the character, I'd say redirct it to the anime he's from. When I go to put it in there is gives me a warning that I shouldn't start the page again. Is it okay for me to simply put a redirect on the page and then let people talk about it if they disagree? I didn't want to upset anyone by not following protocal, but a redirect doesn't seem like too much.Mathewignash (talk) 00:19, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Hey Julian, how you doin? Have a question ... Do you know of a good resource/reference which give the weather history of a particular place? Basically, I'm looking for things like "what was the weather like in X (ex: Daytona Beach, FL), on such and such a date. Most of the newspapers I know of only go back as far as the mid-1980's for on-line refs., and I'd like to find something that went back as far as maybe the 1960's. Know of a site? — Ched :  ?  14:33, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

There are quite a few sites with good historical weather data. I like this site, which goes back to Jan. 1, 1946. Here's another useful one. If you cared enough, you could probably find a very rough estimate of what the weather was going back to 1871. Hope that helps. :) –Juliancolton |  15:57, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Distance Medley Relay

Re: this comment at Requested Moves. Please note that the vast majority of capitalisations shown in the Google search are actually due to headlines where every word is capitalised, or when used as a stand alone caption in which standard practice is to capitalise (e.g. Pole Vault, World Record). When placed within prose, "distance medley relay" without capitals is used. Sillyfolkboy (talk) (edits) 19:06, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Zoltan413 hosed the {{Location map New York}}. The clue was that the problem went away when you removed the pushpin map. The pushpin maps are created by {{Location map}}, which calls one of thousands of little location map templates. This is a somewhat problematic design in that they are no very well patrolled. However, it's pretty clear when there is a problem, as you noticed. Thanks for alerting me to the problem. It looks like Columbus, New York is fine now. On its own, Pastor Theo was generally a very constructive and useful account. It would have been next to impossible to find anything suspicious before ArbCom's desysop. Of course, there's a chance that any and every account is a sock of a blocked user, but you just have to AGF. Overall I think that even if I had nominated, I don't think I would have felt ashamed or guilty. –Juliancolton |  15:03, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
No, and you needn't have felt bad, I agree with you about that.. he was a decent editor as Theo. There is a lot more of this double dealing on this wikipedia. I am perhaps a little the other way to you, a little guarded with my support. Hi. In order for an article to qualify for speedy-deletion under A4, it would need to be almost identical to the previous version. German CDU sub stubs

Hi, I've requested to User talk:Xeno that they be deleted. The task is too huge (and mind numbingly boring) to take on alone. I tried fleshing a few out and even had a few DYKs out of them and some de stubbed but the sheer amount needing doing is too much,. As there clearly aren't many editors working on them it is best to salvage what has been edited and just delete the sub stubs. Then they can be started at a later date and it eases a great part of the BLP problem created with many of them back in July. Himalayan 10:15, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
