Ana González (born 26 August, 1970) is a designer, artist and photographer. She was born in Toledo, Spain, and studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Madrid and in the shooting school EFTI.
Biography
Ana Gonzalez founded Locking Shocking in 1996, firm to which one year later Óscar Benito incorporates to as a partner in order create a tandem that would last until 2007 when the firm was dissolved ten years later.
Ana exercised the role of creative director for the firm, designing accessory collections and jewelry collections until 2001 when she started designing Prêt á Porter collections. After initially capturing the national attention with her accessories, the next challenge were the European Fairs & Expositions. Different collaborations with firms and national designers (Amaya Arzuaga) and International (Michiko Koshino. Dexter Wong...) endorsed her work.
The presentation of their first collection was at the fifth edition of "Circuit - Barcelona". Later on that year, in September 2002 summoned by Pasarela Cibeles in Madrid they won their first award L'Oréal Paris best Spring/Summer 2003 collection by a young designer. Locking Shocking received in 2004 the Fashion "Grand Prix" by Marie-Claire magazine, award for best national designer of the year.
Ana maintains strong ties with other different artistic disciplines, something that seems normal taking into account her studies in Fine Arts at the Fine Arts Faculty of Madrid, for this reason she has participated with several cultural institutions and artistic organizations throughout exhibitions, installations, video art, photography, seminars, conferences, courses , etc.
MNCARS (Museo Nacional de Arte Reina Sofía de Madrid), MUSAC (Museo de arte contemporáneo de Castilla-León), MACBA (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Barcelona), IVAM (Instituto Valenciano de Arte Moderno), DA2 (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Salamanca), Museo del traje, Casa de América, Casa encendida de Madrid, Canal de Isabel II de Madrid, INJUVE (Instituto de la Juventud de Madrid), Galería La Fábrica de Madrid.
In compliance, this has allowed Ana to keep on evolving towards what she considers to be "the Matrix" of any sensitivity related to creation. This interrelation within different art disciplines has always defined Ana's work as the creative director of Locking Shocking and also what has recently developed into her newly created firm, this time on her own as Ana Locking.
Under this new stage as Ana Locking and with her debut collection "REENTRY" Winter 08-09, Ana received in February 2008 the L´Oréal Paris award for best collection at Pasarela Cibeles of Madrid.
At september 2009, presents her collection Spring-Summer 2010 in the New York Public Library, which means the first appearance in NY Fashion Week.
