2009 by-election
BJP, DMK, DMDK, and CPI decided to contest the by-election due to vacant seat here in Bargur. Third Front parties, ADMK, MDMK and PMK decided to boycott the by-election, due to alleges from party leaders from the respective parties of elections not being fair.. The result was a victory for the DMK, and K.R.K Narasimhan being the new MLA.
