Equal Vision Records

Hello! I owe you an apology, I'm afraid; I reverted one of your edits without explanation or a decent edit summary. You'd changed "in June" to "as of June"; the trouble is that "as of" (though increasingly widely used in all sorts of contexts, to mean all sorts of things) is a bit unclear. In demographic articles, for example, it's definitely used to mean "in" or "at" ("as of the 200 census", etc.). "In" is clear and unequivocal, which is why I preferred it. If you in fact meant "since", we could change it to that. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 10:09, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

Going back and looking at it, it seemed to e that as, first, the article is very short, and secondly, the section heading is very long, it might be better to make the heading into just a sentence in the text — so I have. I hope that that's OK with you. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 18:33, 31 July 2005 (UTC)

re: 64.251.51.135

  • I know you suspended the IP address 64.251.51.135 for one week, and I just wanted to let you know that that IP address is the IP address for a high school. I was victimized by this suspension just because of some inconsiderate person that doesn't understand the quality of Misplaced Pages. So, if the same person(s) ever repeatedly vandalizes Misplaced Pages, keep in mind that it is a school IP address that you suspended. Please don't suspend it indefinetely. --G VOLTT 20:16, 17 November 2005 (UTC)
Yes, G VOLTT, I suspended 64.251.51.135 for repeated acts of vandalism. In retrospect, a week might have been too harsh, even though previous short bans were ineffective in ending the menace. I didn't know it was a school IP. Thank you for letting me know. Sorry to have inconvenienced you and other good users at your school. I am glad that someone like you and User:Niteice are taking care of the matter. Would this help identify the culprit ? -- PFHLai 17:41, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

On the Catholic Church of Misplaced Pages

As you have described yourself as a Catholic, I thought I would alert you as a co-religionist to your opportunity to delete the particularly offensive article, Misplaced Pages:Catholic Church of Misplaced Pages.--Thomas Aquinas 21:47, 27 November 2005 (UTC)

A Message to Pro-Life Wikipedians

Image copyright problem RE: Image:Twinkies.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Twinkies.jpg. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Misplaced Pages because of copyright law. We need you to specify two things on the image description page:

  • The copyright holder, and
  • The copyright status

The copyright holder is usually the creator. If the creator was paid to make this image, then their employer may be the copyright holder. If several people collaborated, then there may be more than one copyright holder. If you created this image, then you are the copyright holder.

Because of the large number of images on Misplaced Pages, we've sorted them using image copyright tags. Just find the right tag corresponding to the copyright status of this image, and paste it onto the image description page like this: {{TAGHERE}}.

There are 3 basic ways to licence an image on Misplaced Pages:

  • The copyright holder can also release their work into the public domain. See here for examples.
  • Images from certain sources are automatically released into the public domain. This is true for the United States, where the Wikimedia servers are located. (See here for images from the government of the USA and here for other governments.) However, not all governments release their work into the public domain. One exception is the UK (see here for images from the UK government). Non-free licence governments are listed here.
  • Also, in some cases, an image is copyrighted but allowed on Misplaced Pages because of fair use. To see a) if this image qualifies, and b) if so, how to tag it, see Misplaced Pages:Fair use.

For more information, see Misplaced Pages:Image copyright tags. Please remember that untagged images are likely to be deleted.

If you have uploaded other images without including copyright tags, please go back and tag them. Also, please tag all images that you upload in the future.

If you have any questions, just leave a message on my talk page. Thanks again. -- SoothingR 07:30, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
