America's Polo Cup USA vs Australia 2009

The Land Rover America's Polo Cup is an international televised charity "grass" polo sporting event between the USA and a challenging nation each spring in the Washington DC area established in 2007.

History

2007

On May 12 the United Kingdom defeated America 7-3 at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.

2008

America defeated Italy 6-2 at Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.

2009

On May 9 America defeated Australia 4-2 at the Capitol Polo Club in Potomac, Maryland.

2010

America was scheduled to face India on May 7-8 on the National Mall in Washington, DC. However because of the 2009 White House gatecrash incident, India has withdrawn its participation from the 2010 event.

Event Chairs

America's Polo Cup is chaired by Tareq & Michaele Salahi who are most famous for crashing a White House state dinner.

Due to the Salahi's gate-crashing scandal at the White House state dinner, the Indian Embassy has cut all sponsorship ties with the "America's Polo Cup," along with Landrover, Ritz Carlton and St Regis Hotels.
