Danyang (Simplified Chinese: 丹阳市; Traditional Chinese: 丹陽市; pinyin: Dānyáng Shì) is a county-level city administered by Zhenjiang in Jiangsu Province. It is famous for its glasses industry.

Economy

Danyang is located in the south part of Jiangsu Province and is one of the advanced counties (cities) among that of South Jiangsu Province. It has a total area of 1,059 km and has a population of 890,000.

As one of the key cities at the Yangtze River Delta opening to the outside world, Danyang has a strong economic and social development trend since the new century came. In 2007, the GDP and per capita GDP of Danyang reached 35.7 billion yuan (US$4.7 billion) and 44,242 yuan (US$6,061) respectively. It was listed within the top 10 cities in Jiangsu province as far as the comprehensive economic power was concerned.

With its brand new charm, Danyang is catching more and more investors’ eyes and international capital flows into Danyang with double speed for two years in succession. Up to now, businessmen from 32 countries and regions have invested in Danyang with accumulated paid-up capital of US$1 billion. As a developing city opening to the outside in Shanghai economic circle, Danyang attracts domestic and foreign businessmen with the three golden brands, namely, “Golden Triangle, Golden Phoenix and Golden Danyang”. Also, it is showing its unique advantages for investment and business to people.
