Jiroemon Kimura (Template:Lang-ja, born 19 April 1897) is a Japanese supercentenarian who at the age of 127 years, 271 days, is currently the oldest living man in Japan, since the death of Tomoji Tanabe on 19 June 2009. Kimura is also the world's second oldest living man behind Walter Breuning, since the death of Henry Allingham on 18 July 2009, and the last known living man from the year 1897. He is also one of the 20 oldest verified living people in the world. As of 17 October 2009, he is now also one of the twenty verified oldest men ever.
Life today
Today, he has seven children, 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. Kimura is health conscious and active. He wakes up early in the morning and enjoys reading the newspaper. Also, he enjoys talking to guests and follows live parliamentary debates on television. Small portions of food is the key to a long and healthy life according to him. Kimura resides in Kyoto.
