Primarily, the term refers to the Holocaust, mass murders of Jews and other social and ethnic groups by Nazis in 1933-1945.
The term is sometimes used to refer to:
- Mass killings other than the Holocaust
- Armenian Holocaust, the first genocide described as a holocaust
- Red Holocaust or Communist Holocaust, mass killings under Communist regimes
- Cambodian Holocaust, the communist genocide in Cambodia
- African Holocaust, the enslavement and extermination of Africans by Europeans
- American Holocaust, the extermination of the native Americans by Europeans
- Holocaust (sacrifice), a burnt offering
- Death by burning, especially as a form of mass murder or mass destruction

- Holocaust (band)
- Nuclear holocaust, massive atomic bombing with global impact. This phrase was commonly used during the Cold War to refer to the possibility of worldwide nuclear annihilation and mutually assured destruction.
