First Rush is the debut comedy album released by stand-up comedian Chris Rush. It was released in the Spring of 1973 by Atlantic Records as apart of their "Superstar" Series albums. The record sold more than 265,000 copies. The album never saw a re-release onto CD, but did come out 36 years later from Comedy Spotlight as a downloadable MP3 through various music sites.
National Lampoon Magazine had put 45"rpm inserts with samples of the material that would appear on the full album into their magazines before the official release date, to give people a chance to get familar with Rush. This was done do to the fact that Chris had worked there for the last three years as a writer and editor.
The album was well received and recommended by Billboard Magazine, saying "Satisfying debut from a comedian with delivery reminiscent of Lenny Bruce and the relevant Cheech & Chong bag." March 10, 1973
