Michael Stevenson (born November 19, 1989), better known by his stage name Tyga (Thank You God Always), is an American rapper signed by Young Money Entertainment with distributution from Universal Motown.
Life and career
Tyga was born Michael Stevenson on November 19, 1989, in Compton, California. He is of Jamaican and Vietnamese descent, and a cousin of Travis McCoy, the lead vocalist of the group Gym Class Heroes. He achieved his first recognition opening for Fall Out Boy and Gym Class Heroes during the Young Wild Things Tour in late 2007. His first single, "Coconut Juice," was released in 2008 and was directed by Rage. His first mixtape, No Introduction the Series: April 10, was released online in April. The second part to the series, No Introduction the Series: May 10, was released in May. Tyga tragically died on the twenty third of February, when in a fight with one of his fellow rap partners, Gudda Gudda. Currently, this has not been brought to the public's attention (today is 2/24/10). apparently this was supposed to to be done by another member of young money (Tyga was in the rap group young money, and Gudda Gudda, Lil Wayne, and other people were in it too), Lil Wayne. this is the reason he had an illegal gun in his possession. Tyga, an extremely talented person, will be missed.
The song "Diamond Life" was featured on the Madden NFL 09 soundtrack. and is also included in the Need for Speed Undercover soundtrack and Fighting soundtrack.Tyga has an upcoming album titled Careless World. A single is confirmed and shot for a music video, named "Im On It". The single was previously thought to feature Drake and Juelz Santanna, but Tyga had commented on only Lil Wayne's name.
