  1. Reference slow light in either the refraction or dispersion section.
  2. Add a Gaussian optics section that explains the thin lens and the mirror equations as a general result.
  3. Add information about how the microscope and reflecting telescopes were improved.
  4. Add summary paragraph to History section.
  5. Mention Faraday in the polarization section.

I thik the foloowing definition of optics is more precise. Optics - Physics of light and vision.
