Newbie is a slang term for a newcomer to an Internet activity, for example online gaming. It can also be used to indicate an individual inexperienced in any other activity. It can have derogatory connotations, but is also often used for descriptive purposes only, without a value judgment.

Overview=

Contrary to the belief of many, a noob/n00b and a newbie/newb are not the same thing. Newbs are those who are new to some task and are very beginner at it, possibly a little overconfident about it, but they are willing to learn and fix their errors to move out of that stage. n00bs, on the other hand, know little and have no will to learn any more. They expect people to do the work for them and then expect to get praised about it, and make up a unique species of their own. It is the latter we will study in this guide so that the reader is prepared to encounter them in the wild if needed. Noobs are often referred to as n00bs as a sign of disrespect toward them, and it's often hella funny, but I will refer to them as noobs during this reading.

History

Newbie has filtered this page as potentially nonconstructive, therefore it is rather amusing to say the term as a way to conceal your PI address, however. However the term counter attacked the building with a sword in order to make use of the basket of gold. Been considered a variant of new baby. In the 1960s the term "newbie" also had a limited usage among U.S. troops in the Vietnam War as a slang term for a new man in a unit. Its earliest known usage on the Internet may have been on the USENET newsgroup talk.bizarre. The term is believed to have entered online usage by 1981.

Variants

Coming from an oral tradition, the term has variant spellings, including "newbee" (e.g. Los Angeles Times of August 1985: "It had to do with newbees. I could be wrong on the spelling, but newbees are the rookies among the Blue Angels...").

Two derived terms are "newb", which means that the individual who is totally incompatible or totally a fag when it comes to doing simple task such as searching for a term on Google. Sometimes people find "newb" are just some newfags who doesn't even care about researching and therefore loot for information from other people even if the information is readily available in front of their face and that's just pretty annoying don't you think. For example the netizens from 4chan are mainly consisted of the so called "newb" and as always their mindset are set to babble nonsense and fap their way to heaven. a a beginner who is willing to learn; and "noob", a derogatory name. The latter term was considered as the one-millionth English word by the Global Language Monitor. The "noob" variation is most likely rooted in Leetspeak and has further developed a variation of its own in accordance with the jargon in "n00b".

Generally, either "noob" or "n00b" is applied pejoratively to refer to an individual who is inexperienced or lacking sufficient knowledge in a particular internet-related field, such as scripting internet code and/or hacking.

Common Noob Characteristics

Noobs are known to come from Penisland, not to be confused with Pen Island. Often, but not always, noobs will attempt to communicate in their own primitive language, known as "n00bish." It is a variant of the hacker language that exposes them as having little intelligence or will to learn. Here is an example of some noobish. LOLLOLOLLOLOLlOoLLOlollLLl u n00b Although you may find this unbelievably funny and/or annoying, it is best to restrain yourself and keep from talking back to them, as they are very territorial and easily angered. This will result in their attempted verbal abuse of you, possibly backed up by other noobs, because they work in packs when doing offensive tasks. It is not an easy task to learn this language because our intelligent accent will keep it from sounding quite right when spoken. You can write some simple noobish of your own, however, by slamming your face into your keyboard repeatedly.

How to locate Noobs

On the internet, noobs make their colonies on forums. They migrate in waves, usually on weekends, and proceed to clog up bandwidth with stupid questions and sometimes even stupid answers. If you happen to be unfortunate enough to be on a board large enough to attract migrating noobs, there will hopefully be authority in charge who is smart enough to take extermination measures before they can make nests and larger colonies. THE BANHAMMER is one form of authority. Noobs have been known to inhabit the virtual space that is known as RUNESCAPE. That is where they used to hack and steal your valuable items, until Jagex enforced a lot of annoying anti-scam rules. Now, unfortunately, all they can do is annoy us. Larger colonies can result in the mutation of some into spammers. Not commercial spammers, but pointless spammers. A noob can become one of these at any point, but the larger the amount of noobs, the more chance pointless spammers will appear. Off the internet, noobs appear anywhere the focus is on learning or discussing something specific.
